Hi am new to all this. Have been diagnosed with lobar pneumonia, really hard as a mum of two to be ill! Anyone had this and any ideas on how long recovery can take. Am in week four and three antibiotics down...feeling better but still not right

Hello clair,
I don't know what the 'lobar' bit means but I had pnemonia at the begining of winter. I thought I just had a nasty bug which would go away by itself and, as you say, I didn't have time to be ill anyway, but it really brought me to my knees.

I guess it took a couple of weeks for the intensely ill phase, but possibly a couple of months to feel properly better.

You have to let things go a bit. Let the house get messy, call in as much help as you can get, and try to make things easier on yourself so you can rest.

It has to be taken seriously otherwise it may be something that comes back again and again.

I seem to remember several MNers had a bout of pnuemonia over winter so it might be worth your while searching the arvhives.

Good luck and get well soon.
