Lump in neck, inconclusive FNA, not a cyst, benign so WHAT COULD IT BE?

It's my thyroid gland. Dr thought it was nothing but referred me to ENT. Consultant thought it was a cyst but sent for fine needle aspiration & ultrasound. Radiologist said it looked dodgy. Test results came back saying it's not a cyst but it's benign. Consultant now wants to do another biopsy with a bigger needle (can't remember what he called it) and an MRI 'to be on the safe side'. I was confused and said if it's not malignant, and if it's not a cyst then what could it be - which the consultant didn't seem to be able to answer. I asked if I could relax a bit about it because it was benign and he said yes...

So what will they be looking for and would he say I could relax if there was still a chance it could be cancer?

I have to wait 6-8 weeks for the next biopsy

Benign adenoma here

I had one yrs ago - removed and am fine. Depending on size they may leave it

I would have thought they would have mentioned the possibility of goitre or adenoma. I had one in my breast years ago & when I had my ultrasound back then she said straight away 'it's a fibroadenoma'
