What can I buy to re-jig my periods a bit?

So my period diary is telling me I'm next due to have my period on the day we're going to a 3 day festival. I'm having really heavy periods as the moment so really don't want it to clash with being in a field...

Don't want to bother a GP as I realise it's not at all important but is there anything I can buy to move my cycle/stop it temporarily? Have never thought about doing this before and have never had to take the pill or anything so am completely clueless...

I've been to the GP for something to do this before - was off to Glasto and wanted to avoid my period. It's a long time ago but I think I had tablets that I started taking 5 days before I was due. I think my period arrived when I stopped taking them.

I recall taking the pill for a couple of weeks as a teenager when I went on holiday. Its not too trivial for the GP, it only takes 5 minutes of their time and will make your weekend so much more enjoyable.

Ok will go to the GP - I need to go anyway so will mention it.

Ask your GP for norhisterone - you take it 5 days before your period is due and keep taking it three times a day until after you are home. You will then get a withdrawal bleed (often heavy and painful) similar to when you are taking the combined pill.
