So what could it be?

I keep googling and coming up with cancer Sad

Any one know anything about this please? DH in hospital still and the doctor still hasn't talked to him after the scan.

By scan do you mean ultrasound? My ex has to be screened for kidney cancer every year and thats by ultrasound, so I'm assuming if your DH had cancer it would show up on the scan?

Wishing him a speedy recovery whatever it is. x

Thanks pink - yes an ultrasound.

Scan at 9am, after waiting around for it all yesterday. Results back about 11am. Still not seen a doctor or had any information at all. Getting frustrated, and a bit worried.

Is he on a ward? Might be worth asking one of the nurses to find out what's happening.

Ormiriathomimus · 16/08/2012 15:18

I rang the ward - got told that they were as frustrated as him! I don't think so...Grin

Shit! They can find no reason for blood in urine or the pain. Waiting for a consultant.

My mum had this last year, lasted for about 12 months. Every symptom of kidney stones, extreme pain but nothing on any scan, ultrasound or MRI. She had numerous scans and no reason was ever found but she was extremely ill for quite a while and was convinced she had cancer because there could be no other reason.

One of the consultants thought that maybe she had had stones but had passed them, the damage causing the pain, or that they were just too small but numerous to show up on scans, a bit like sand? Anyway it just started to ease and get better, although she has had quite a few courses of antibiotics too. Hope you hear something positive soon.

This happened to me in 2008. Finally in 2012 they did an mri and there they were masses of teh things!

Update - DH has been in pain all weekend but no more nausea. DH is in a state because his dad died of colon and kidney cancer.

Went back to GP today still has blood in urine but not much and GP said that isn't that worrying on it's own. The scan showed no masses or anything that shouldn't be there although there might a very tiny stone that they couldnm't see. Has given him stronger painkillers and some anti-inflammatories as there is some swelling around the area of the pain.

Feel a bit better about it now.

Anti inflammatories worked wonders for my mum, although they made her stomach bad which caused a whole load of other problems! He should be comforted by the fact that they can't see anything on the scan, has his consultant suggested any further tests, MRI for instance? They should try to get to the bottom of it, although it might just clear up spontaneously like my mums did.

Ormiriathomimus · 20/08/2012 17:17

He had the scan where you right inside the donut shaped thing (showing complete ignorance here!) Isn't that an MRI?

He is now sleeping like a baby so I am guessing the tablets must have helped a bit as he hasn't slept properly in ages.
