My Dad has terminal lung cancer :( so I'm following this one with interest
vaccine to treat lung disease

And this looks really interesting as well, especially considering that it's been suggested that vaccines cause type 1 diabetes, a bit ironic!

((((ElaineBenes)))) - so sorry to hear about your father. I have btdt with my parents, too.

Thank you for the interesting links.

PigletJohn · 14/08/2012 23:20

Very sorry to hear about your dad

ElaineBenes · 15/08/2012 01:35

Thanks. He's responding to treatment and we're hoping the vaccines will come out in time for him to benefit - as well as some other promising treatments.

This is where I'd like research money to go, not in beating dead horses.

Sorry to hear about your Dad.

ElaineBenes · 15/08/2012 04:08

Thanks Shredded. He's optimistic and I'm trying to be.

When I was reading about treatments etc, I saw that there are a number of cancer treating vaccines at the final stages of clinical trials - and they've shown significant improvements in survival especially for stage 4 cancer - so hopefully it won't be too long before they're licensed.

There is also a treatment for parkinsons in development where they inject a virus directly into the brain, which will kick start the brain to produce dopamine again.

MyDogShitsMoney · 15/08/2012 14:09

Fantastic link OP thank you.

XH has Type 1 Diabetes and it's a shitty shitty thing.

Cancer is also a bastard of a disease, I have a close 45yr old family member fighting it with everything he's got right now.

Hope your Dad continues to do well xx

SabrinaMulhollandJones · 24/08/2012 19:26

Elaine, thank you for posting this, I'm so sorry about your Dad :(

I heard a Doctor on R4 recently talking about the roles of vaccines in the fight against cancer - it's very promising - if that's the right term. I for one hope that more research funding can be poured into this.

As an aside, can I just say how much I ( as mainly a lurker) appreciate all your informative posts on the Vaccination forum .

ElaineBenes · 25/08/2012 02:05

Thank you Sabrina
