Odd skin reaction to sticking plasters

I got some rubbing on the backs of my heels from some new shoes and so I put a plaster on each heel yesterday. When I woke up today the skin underneath the plasters was itching like crazy and when I gingerly peeled them off I found that the areas underneath the sticky bits on both feet had turned into HUGE blisters (the bit under the gauze is normal). I've just looked at them again and a new blister has come up since morning despite the fact I took the plasters off hours ago and washed the skin. I haven't worn any shoes or socks that could have caused them.

Has anybody got any ideas? Could it be a reaction to the adhesive? I've used sticking plasters for donkeys years, including this brand, and have never had any problems.

I'm allergic to plasters so always had tape after blood tests etc but after a two week stay in hospital I've developed an allergy to that too!

I also developed reactions to the sticky things they secure the canulas with which was a nightmare as I needed them changed every day more or less. We worked our way through a few different ones but after a few hours the whole area around them was red and itchy and blistered. This caused more trouble then the reason I was in the hospital for in then end.

I have no other allergies or skin conditions luckily. Seems like it's fairly common though.

I first discovered I was allergic to the pink fabric plasters years ago when I had to have an emergency C section and the plastered area was huge. It wasn't funny

Any time since when I feel they may need to slap a plaster on, however small, I am very vocal and they take notice!
