Fell and hurt hand, do I need to get it looked at?

On Friday I fell and broke my fall with my hands. The heel of my right hand is still sore, bruised and feels heavy and tired. It feels a bit like I have something too tight round my wrist. The heel bone? Not sure what to call it also feels a bit biger than to the other hand. I can move my hand normally. I really don't want to waist my time and will feel silly if I go to a and e and get told its nothing.

Thanks

I think if you are still getting pain after a week then you should get an Xray.

You may have fractured your scaphoid bone.

Good luck :)

I'd go to minor injuries if you have one with x ray locally (3 near us do) and let them have a look. Theres lots of little bones there, and if you break them you may still be able to move it, but does need treating

Thanks. I don't have anyone to watch kids till Sunday so guess I will get it checked out then if it still hurts.

I would go and get it checked. I slipped on ice a few years ago whilst carrying DD2, using my hand to break my fall. Pain wasn't too bad but after a week decided to go and get it checked after advice from a friend who is a physio. Turned out I had fractured my scaphoid bone and was promptly put in plaster.

Hope your hand is ok.

Don't know how I will manage the rest of school holidays with my right hand in plaster. Hope nothing's broke. Thanks.
