OK i have just had surgery for Cervical Ablation, i am currently Hypothyroid after 10 yrs of being Hyper-t, also have Graves Disease! NOW...these symptoms are getting more frequent bit worried ..doc requests bt to check blood sugar levels..does this indicate diabetes?

It will start like this

  1. slight burning in stomach and base of throat ..similar to acid indigestion
  2. pins and needles in face, lips and finger tips,
  3. pressure build up in face (tightening, sometimes eyes water etc)
  4. watery mouth
  5. slight chestyness/wheezy
  6. hot sweats
  7. As it progresses i then get dizzy, have passed out occasionally too.

Sometimes i can control it mentally by trying to ignore it and sometimes it goes if of course i dont pass out! Told doc and he said BT for blood sugars.

I know you said it starts randomly but my first thought when reading it was "allergic reaction" probably from food.

Have a look at this

I am not medically qualified but I have recently been diagnosed with diabetes but haven't had any of these symptoms, although not everyone gets the classic symptoms. Have a look on the Diabetes UK website, that may help.

BalloonSlayers idea sounds possible, DH has a food allergy and he gets discomfort, pins and needles in mouth lips, tongue and throat, sweaty etc if he has a reaction. Doc could be looking for other things though and may want to cover all bases. Good luck x

OH yes someone once did say possible allergic reaction...but its odd how sometimes i can eat the exact same thing and no prob. Last time i had it was monday, had breakfast (toast- as normal) then half hour later felt funny. But i may well run it by the doc maybe they can test to see what i could be allergic too - food wise.
