I suffer on and off with plantar fasciitis, I have had a recent flare up which has been resolving with stretches, brufen, ice etc.

Tonight whilst walking the dog I jumped over a puddle and felt a pop in the sole of my right foot close to the heel, accompanied by excruciating pain.

I have taken brufen, iced it and am feeling very sorry for myself.

I can only put weight on the front of my foot and at rest despite brufen it is still really sore.

Googling reveals I might have ruptured the plantar fascia and treatment is a cast for 4 weeks. Bugger

Has this happened to anyone else and what happened?

Dh wants to take me to A+E but I'm I inclined to wait till Monday and see my GP.

Well, i wouldn't go to A&E on a Friday night if I could help it!
I would wait until the morning and then go.
In the meantime- rest, ice, elevation and pain relief as you are doing.

Chances are it is a soft tissue injury. a trip to A&E will only be of any use to rule out any bone fracture but as you can put weight on the front of your foot that is very unlikely.

Soft tissue injury probably needs strapping up and resting. Kepp off it for 10-14 days if possible.

Good luck

How is it this morning Bumbez?
The other possibility is to go back to your physio or whoever was advising you on you Plantar fasciitis and ask their advice. It would probably be advisable to borrow some crutches from A&E and keep your weight off it, depending how it is.

It's a little bit better thanks, I rang NHS direct and am taking the advice of rest, analgesia and ice.

If its still sore tomorrow I'll visit my GP :)
