Mouth ulcers on the side of my tongue

I had one, it healed and another moved in next to where it had been

Now I'm getting another one on the other side of my tongue

I know I am prone to them but never here before.....they are invading aren't they?

I do not know if these are the same as canker sores. I am in U.S. and possibly just different terms for same very painful sores. I very seldom get them now, but have plenty in the past. If you can stand it, alum dabbed on will cure it (almost) overnight. Alum is a pickling spice. It is a white powder and tastes horrible. Recently in the news was a story of a babysitter who made a child drink an alum solution as punishment for something or other.

Further to the sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate comment, I've never cut shampoo with it, but I have stopped using toothpaste with SLS in. The only one I've found with a flavour I can stand is by Weleda. Made an enormous difference, even if I do get a mouth ulcer now, it heals really quickly.

Mouth ulcers and canker sites are the same, yes.

Sores. Bloody autocorrect.

I was getting them every time that my period was due, it was hormonal, but I was also low on folic acid.

Interestingly DD had a mouth full of ulcers, sores on the sides of her tongue and really swollen lips for a couple of days while we were on holiday

So I guess it must have been a bug/virus

My Gran said you get ulcers when you're run-down, like when recovering from illness. That was for grown ups. Us children got told they are caused by telling lies.
