Hi

I was just speaking to my aunt on the phone, we talked about lots of things she had been doing and her plans for today and some stressful stuff about my granny.
She is healthy and in her early 50's. she is currently caring for my granny who has stroke related dementia. is it very stressful for my aunt who is handelling it on her own.

she came off the phone crying, then called me back panicking about 10 mins later saying something weird had just happened and she could'nt remember any thing.
She can't remeber what she did last night at all but had just told me that she had drank 3 glasses of wine last night and had been sick this morning.
She doesn't drink very often and has not got a drink problem. She is currently travelling with my granny from london to the highland and stopped off last night with another family member and is at their house righ now but can't remember how she got there or what they did last night or speaking to me on the phone earlier.
She told me what they did last night in the first ohone call and some details of what they were doing there. but now she has no recolatcion in the space of 15 mins.

I am presuming this is stress related although the fact she has been sick this morning is worring me too.

has anyone come accross this?

she has called me a few times since saying she can't remember what just happened
this has not happened before

anyone have any experiance of this?

It could be, strangely enough, a urine infection - but either way, its quite sudden, she needs a doctor.

Yes thanks. Of course I hadn't thought about the urine infection but I have heard that before. Yes she is off for an out of hours appointment. Thanks for your suggestion!

My dad has suffered from stress related amnesia in the past. He went to work, did a day's work, left the office to go home, got on the train then didn't get off. When found, he had no idea who he was, where he'd been or where he lived. At first a stroke was suspected (he was late 60s at the time) but had been suffering at the hands of a nasty, work place bully who had such an affect on him that his memory just went. It was a scary time for all of us but he has never recurred. dad still can't recall that day even now some 5 years on.
