my period started 8 days ago, bled heavily, as normal for 2 days then just light spotting for 2 days. Then 2 days later I started bleeding again, then it stopped for 2 days and now it's started again this morning. Today I also have slight pains in my tummy and lower groin (like a pulled muscle)... wierd!
I am 41 - not on the pill. My periods aren't normally like this so I am a bit worried, should I be?

wondered if it was the start of the dreaded M word... just don't know whether to go to the docs or just bear with it and see what happens next month.

Have you stopped using any form of contraception at all? I say this because my depo ran out last Feb, had periods as normal until September and then had a period like this for what was 3 months in the end. I'd go to the gp and ask her advice if I were you. You hear horrible stories about cervical and ovarian cancer, so I'd get those ruled out. I was eventually told mine was probably due to dodgy hormones following the depo jab.

no - not been on the pill or coil for years and years.
