I have been feeling really rough for a while now, beg. of Dec. I am getting mouth ulcers, cold sores, sinus problems, colds, tingling in my feet and fingers, anxious, loss of motivation, forgetful with words. Its really getting me down, which also isn't helping matters. What can I do??? Please.

no idea assumpta but i'd go and checked out with the doctor if i were you.it's worrying you and the doc hopefully will be either able to make you better or put your mind at ease.
sounds like running low, when your immune system is low you pick up everything.

brimfull · 05/03/2006 18:13

may be low thyroid function.

have you gained any weight?

expatinscotland · 05/03/2006 18:21

have you lost any weight? this can also be a sign of hyper thyroid function which can make you feel run down as well.

I think i am going to ring the dr. tomorrow and ask for some blood tests, but don't know if they have to look for something specific to narrow it down, or if he will have any idea what to check for. I do wonder if I need some kind of boost, be it for my immune system, or something to help me chill out. I am getting very worked up about things, silly things, that then make me feel really bad about later. I have 2dd and dp. Any ideas for immune booster?

Hiya
I know Echinacea is supposed to be good for boosting the immune system, M&S do a smoothy kind of drink with it in (tho i'm sure other supermarkets will do it to) or you can get it in table form which will also be available in supermarket/health food shop, are you eating properly too coz i know its easily done when you have kids that you run round after them and forget about yourself, could you be anaemic??? coz i was after having dd for a while, try eating foods rich in iron and see if that helps, hope you feel better soon Smile

shellybelly · 05/03/2006 18:32

whoops sorry not table form TABLET form Grin

I am eating really healthy at the moment. I give echinechia to the children, but should take it myself too, will start tonight. Know of any good boosting foods?

Certainly sounds like your immune system is low. Do you crave sweet things? Have you had a long course of antibiotics (or several courses) over the past year?

shellybelly · 05/03/2006 19:08

anything with vit c which is really good for the immune system, but don't go eating loads of oranges coz you will end up with the runs Grin

assumpta · 05/03/2006 19:34

Yes I have had 2 bouts of double strength antibiotics to help with sinus?

In which case you could have killed off all the "good bacteria" in your system - do you drink pro-biotic drinks?

Elibean · 05/03/2006 20:05

I would definitely see the doctor and get the tests, just wanted to mention...dh had all the above (including poor circulation in hands and feet, which may be cause of the tingling - though again, tell your doctor about it) and got thoroughly tested for just about everything going. It turned out to be depression, which can cause strong physical symptoms (and lower immunity) - not just mood ones.

On the other hand, physical illness can also cause depression - so it can work either way.
I hope the doc checks you out thoroughly, and helps - let us know!

Right, went to the doctor this morning and is giving me a whole set of blood tests, white blood count, renal, thyroid, cholesterol, says anemia can also bring down your system. I have started taking echinechea, pro-biotics, zinc with vit c, and multi vitamins with cod liver oil. If there is no improvement over the next month, I am going to go completely crazy. Am really upset about cold sores as I have never had them and then get 2 in 3 weeks. Any ideas how to get rid of these and to stop them reoccuring.

Zovirax is a god send and personally i think its the best thing on the market for cold sores, I never go anywhere without mine and i've never in years (touch wood) had a full blown cold sore even if you feel the blister and apply it it stops it from coming up, i think its about five/six quid Grin

You've got to be really careful using the cream assumpta.

Make sure you don't touch the tube of cream with the finger you've just used to apply cream. This will infect the whole tube and make it useless. Also make sure any lipstick or gloss is thrown away if it has been in contact. It's easy to keep reinfecting yourself if you're not really careful about cross infection.HTH
