Chicken-pox symptoms

Dd1 has several red blotchy spots that she keeps scratching (one on her face that looks a bit like a spot). She also has a bit of a temeprature and seems a bit miserable. I am not sure whether or not this is chicken pox but just wondering whether I need to get it confirmed or keep her at home and how long to keep her isolated for.

it sounds like chicken pox. Do you have any piriton syrup at home? Give her some calpol and get hold of some Benedryl from the chemist (better than calamine lotion) and other MNetters have recommended Eurax which you can get from the chemist. Lukewarm baths only. Smile

Once the spots have blistered and dried then she's good to go. Chicken pox incubates for a couple of weeks so your others should get it soon.

Thanks for that - I was going to get calamine but will try what you suggest.

Don't forget the piriton syrup! Very important as it really does help with the itching.

Will do, thanks Smile
