It may get better by itself - I'd wait and see how it is in a day or 2 but I'm notorious for not wanting to go to see my GP in case I'm wasting his time.

I think it is just a case of time healing, but I've heard how painful it is.

Out with the painkillers!

Some sitting positions, bring tears to the eyes!
Don't want to go and get looked at if it's one of those things that they say we just leave it to heal on it's own!

I'd get it checked personally .. but then I'm very conscious of my back

I'd see a chiropracter too ... I often have problems around my coccyx and my chiro sees them off at the pass

Sharry - I fell down some stairs a few years ago and cracked my coccyx - in general they will tell you to keep it until it is better I am afraid. Rest (easier said then done I know), nice deep baths and some pain relief.

Childbirth sorted mine out after I hurt it sitting down on a wooden bedframe instead of the mattress but I don't think that's a practical option!

Definitely try doctor then chiropractor/osteopath if it's not showing signs of improvement over the next couple of days. Til then, try to keep the weight off it when sitting (easier said then done!!) Don't sit back onto it whilst slouching comfortably in a chair.

I fell down the stairs and broke my Coccyx in July last year.I went to my GP as the pain was awful. He prescribed me very strong painkillers, told me to buy a special rubber or foam ring from the chemist and that it would take 6-12 months to heal.I did buy a large foam ring, which was rather useless, but if by magic the pain went after about 3 months and has never come back since.I would take some painkillers and see how it goes-it might take a while before you're comfortable again, though.
