DS2 bringing up green gunk when sick....

....normal and his bodies way of getting rid of the gunk after this flu thing or should I be more worried?

He had this flu thing for a week, a week before last along with his baby brother and I thought he was better, but on Friday developed yet another cold (along with the baby) and was sick twice last night and about 3 times this morning. This morning has just been green gunk though, nothing else.

Anyone know about these things. Just wondering if he needs to see the doctor today, whether he needs AB's or not. He is 3. DS3 (14 months) seems ok, but he is chunkier and eats well, unlike DS2, so not so worried about him.

Should have mentioned, no temperature, but quite clammy.

Could it be that he has been swallowing mucus from his cold and that's what he his bringing back up?

calebsmummy · 05/03/2006 09:12

I think thats what it is, Cadbury, but he is bringing up a lot of it. Not so much lots at once, but being sick lots of times this morning.

I guess if it's coming from his tummy. it's harmless. But I need to be sure.

Aaarrggghh, fed up with this darned flu thing now. My body is currently desperately fighting it. Feeling very tired this weekend and spaced out, iykwim.

I think you should have him checked, some times green is bile rather than phlegm

Flamesparrow · 05/03/2006 13:35

No idea :( Hugs though.

Parcel arrived Grin... B was soooo pleased!

calebsmummy · 05/03/2006 13:38

Oooh really, Zippi? Any idea what it could mean? Sorry for my ignorance. I have 3 boys but none have had this before so whilst I am not worrying too much, I would like to rule out anything more serious. (Been reading too many pnuemonia and bronchial problems on here Sad)

Hey Flame, hellooooo Grin

Glad B liked her parcel, all big sisters deserve a little pressie. Did you like the front label? Especially designed by Caleb -lol!!

Hows u?

zippitippitoes · 05/03/2006 13:42

It sounds much more likely to be phlegm but bile is sometimes brought up if they have a gut problem, I think but I am not an expert..Smile

hope he feels better soon

Flamesparrow · 05/03/2006 13:47

Loved the label Grin - showed Alethea and everything! We're doing well - just need people to stop buying B sweets as her big sister present, and we'll be fine... major sugar crash tantrums (and tantrums over me taking away sweeties!!!)

calebsmummy · 05/03/2006 13:50

Thanks Zippi, I will keep an eye on him for the afternoon and see how he goes. He has just eaten half a bowl of Scooby Dooby Doo breakfast (rice crispies Grin), will have to see if that stays down. Poor little chap, I think he is fed up with being ill. Mind you we got the new Charlie and Lola DVD the other day and he has been saying today ' I'm really ever so not well' Grin

Glad you are doing well. Will try to get down and visit sometime soon (when all poorly children are better) x

Ds started to bring up green sick which was from his upper intestines and was bile and other icky stuff, for his bug because he wouldnt stop being sick from abotu 48+ hours we had to give oral rehab stuff and little and often water.

egocentriczebra · 05/03/2006 21:43

I thought they always tended to bring up green gunk when sick... at least, when they're near empty. That's why you keep giving them only water until they stop bringing up anything.

yuck, i hate tummy bugs!!!

calebsmummy · 06/03/2006 08:02

Still not better Sad Now has a temperature and still being sick, but nothing coming up normally. It's definately gunk from his cold, but also this morning he managed a very small beaker of milk and half and hour later it came back solidified Shock Really odd!! Now going to call doctors and demand an appointment. They will try to fob me off with the triage nurse, but he has been ill for over 2 weeks now on and off so I want him checked out.

Just wondering if it isn't a bug, but the gunk from his cold/cough making him urge.

poorwee soul, if it green gunk from her nose it spoosible she has an infection. I am sure they will see you, dr surg should never turn away a baby, especially one so young. Hope she's better soon.

calebsmummy · 06/03/2006 20:27

Well, I took him to the doctor this afternoon and the poor little man has a chest infection! Sad
