DS2 has been vomiting
He started yesterday 6am, all over me first thing.
He was fine but a little bit grzzly for the rest of the day. We were out visiting rellies so didn't really notice that much about him. He fed well and had a chew on a bit of broccoli..

today he didn't feed much am, but had a small bf 11.30am and then 12.30pm threw it all up and loads more. All over me again- this time in a cafe.

He was fine before and after.
And then he threw up again 20mins after another small bf, hey guess who he threw up on??
I'd just got out of the bath, sweet smeeling and lovely.
Hmmmm
Anyway, he is totally bf, no cups or bottle as yet really, he mouths a beaker.
Shall I stop food, he is just tasting things at the moment.
Shall i carry on breastfeeding? Or try to give him some water even though he's not really going to manage the beaker??
he seems well, is currently sleeping on DH (some people get all the luck!)
Advice gratefully received Smile

fluid is good, I would say dont stop breast feeding as it is the most easily absorbed nutrition. Perhas try some water or dioralyte from beaker or even a spoon if he'll accept or even neurofen syringe, the most important thing is to keep him hydrated so I would let him drink whatever you can get him to. keep an eye on his temp and if in doub NHS 24/out of hours GP for more advice.

I'd keep offering bf, and not bother with food for a bit, I guess.

It's probably a bug though, anyway, and will pass.

do keep on breastfeeding, mother's milk is chemically bound up in ways that make it hard for the tummy bugs to access the nutrients, so you can still feed the child but probably starve the bug at the same time (cool, eh?).

Would stop all other food, though, for at least 12 hours, maybe more like 24 hours if at all poss.

I got telephone appt with my GP on fri coz dd has got sickness/runs tho its gradually easing now (touch wood) anyway he advised me to keep feeding dd, he did say at one point they used to advise not to feed but now they say you can, I think as long as its quite bland food its ok, I've reverted back to apple purees etc for dd, stuff that would be quite gentle on her tummy and I keep offering her water after she has been sick or had a runny bum (sorry if tmi) hope he gets better Smile
