Avulsion fracture of ankle - anyone experienced this?

Hi, I have just found out I have been walking on a fractured ankle for the past week, following a nasty fall. I am currently 25 weeks pregnant, and have a toddler too, so am wondering what I can expect for treatment, and length of recovery.

I am seeing the Orthopaedic surgeon tomorrow, when I will be advised of which part is actually broken. The pain is mostly shooting up my leg, as opposed to in the foot. I have been told a cast is likely. Many thanks.

Gentle bump for you.

Thank you kitten clearly it is not a common thing, or perhaps people just hate me Confused I guess this is not a particularly high traffic area. Perhaps I should post in AIBU.

I think you'd be quite entitled for an 'AIBU to wonder how on earth you are going to manage!'
Except then youd end up with ridiculous 'YABU I mananged with 15 kids, no dp, two broken legs in 12 foot of snow' comments.
I hope you get helpful answers tomorrow.

I did the same - minus the fall, I just broke it doing nothing Grin
They gave me a cast but it was a walking one so much easier than crutches (had those for my other ankle displaced break) Blush
Think I was 10-12 weeks in it

Thank you kitten you are so right. It is easy to feel inadequate here at times.

bright Good Lord that was a long time, especially a break doing nothing. I fell 3 feet straight onto my ankle on concrete. Oh well, I will find out today I guess.

Thank you for replying ladies.

I now have a plaster on, which will be reviewed in three weeks. They wanted to do a CT scan but cannot due to pregnancy

A plaster should help ( I hope?) I hope it heals well and quickly.

Thank you kitten it was more sore initially, but I managed to sleep. At least it can heal now.
