Biopsy - how long for test results?

A family member had a tumour removed a month ago, which was biopsied. Apparently the results still aren't back. Anyone know how long these things take? There's some family politics going on at the moment which means I can't really push this, but if people who have been in a similar situation all tell me that results should be back by now then I can go back and see if I can find out what's going on.

Thanks!

Hello - sorry to hear you are waiting for results. My Mum had a hysterectomy a year ago and we had to wait for the pathology results to see if radiotherapy was required.

I am sure we had to wait at least 3 weeks for the results.

Hope this helps. I'm sure others will have info for you too.

I suggest you (or an appropriate person) ring PALS up at the hospital and get them to investigate. Do you know if your relative was referred on a cancer pathway as there are target dates of 31 days from referral to date treatment starts (I think or it might be diagnosis sorry it's been a long week).

I'll speak to my Dad today and see what the update is. I think they need to talk to PALS anyway, as there were big communication issues between the hospital and GP when they were trying to get the treatment sorted out. The NHS trust is one that isn't doing well for meeting target times for cancer.....

I'd forgotten about PALS actually, so thanks for reminding me!
