Any singers out there who can give tips on singing with a cold?

dd2 has two singing performances to do with school this week and she has got a horrendous cold and a sore throat! Anybody got any suggestions/tips on how to get through the performances? She will be devastated if she can't do it, I feel so sorry for her Sad

Suck glycerin pastilles for the sore throat, and do steam inhalation for the cold.
And drink lots and lots of water.

Try to avoid decongestants, as these dry up the mucus. Be careful with painkillers (I used to gargle with aspirin, but your DD might be a bit young for that? And you have to be careful because it can cause bleeding if you overdo it) and things like strepsils which contain anaesthetic because if she can't feel what is going on, she could oversing and potentially cause damage.

My teacher always said there was nothing wrong with singing on a cold (providing there was no sore throat Sad) as long as you find a way to sing around it, as it were.

Thank Tea. She is not as bad as yesterday I don't think but still far from right. She is at rehearsals today and messaged me to say she doesn't think she sounded very good Sad.

Her throat isn't hurting, she is just totally bunged up unfortunately. Finding a way to sing round it is proving a little difficult I'm afraid (not that she would know how). It is just such bad luck that she has caught this now.

Yes it is really hard when you are so bunged up Sad the "singing round it" probably applies more to a runny cold, not one with a stuffy head.

All I can suggest is the drinking loads of water and steam inhalation to thin the mucus and hopefully get things moving.

Poor love, it really sucks Sad
