I heard today that a boy at our school has just spent 4 days in IC with epiglottis, a rare throat infection which can cause suffocation. He is now fine, but I understand a poor Yr9 girl in Sevenoaks (about 25 miles from here) died last week from it. It IS rare, but my best friend lost her first baby to it, so we wanted to alert you to the fact it is around ATM - I hope this link works for more info \link{http://www.drhull.com/EncyMaster/E/epiglottitis.html\this}

Sad isn't that what HIB vaccine is designed for ? Is it known if they had had it.

the link that you downloaded is really informative. My ds has had croup quite a few times, I never have looked to see if he is swallowing normally, and have never even heard of this infection. Hope your little ones stay safe.
