Viral spots on DS (3rs) face getting sore-what should I put on them?

Our house has been a virus hot house recently and the latest to fall victim is my ds who is 3.He started of vomiting then had a high temp and his body was covered in a viral rash. The rash has gone and the temp is being controlled with paracetamol but his poor little face has erupted in spots-mainly on his chin and around his nose and lots of scabs up his little nose.Looks like the virus is coming out that way but I have been putting Germolene on them in the hope that would help but with no luck .Any ideas what would be better?

I'd pop him to the GP, sounds rather impetigoish to me. Sorry. Do tell the receptionist that it may be infectious when you make the appointment (not saying it is)

nobodysfool · 22/06/2012 14:26

Grin It's always the way.

Blisters like ...chicken pox?? Wink That starts off with a mild fever etc. The blisters then scab over.

nobodysfool · 22/06/2012 14:32

HHmmmm dont think its chicken pox as he had a massive dose of that in October. My eldest has had slapped cheek over the last month, though my younges def had a viral rash not the SC rash.Oh well will wait and see I guess.

Sad Poor mite. I hope it heals quickly. Don't worry, it's one of those things. Wine

Doc said it was probably where he had been picking his nose and caused a little cut and got infected with the infection that was running down his nose :-(

Could be. The usual place is at the edges of the mouth, but can turn up wherever there's bacteria. You have to be super duper clean with this though, as it really does spread. Sad

nobodysfool · 22/06/2012 22:08

Gah just had to deal with the sickness bug, slapped cheek and another virus.Apart from boiling bedding, separate towels, flannels, sterilizing his toothbrush and trying to stop ds touching it im at a loss what else to do.....

There's not a lot that you can do, just keep washing his hands. I did some research, blueberries are excellent at boosting the immune system. Smile

nobodysfool · 22/06/2012 23:33

He should never be I'll the amount of blueberries he eats Wink

Try to avoid putting cream in and to stop him fiddling/rubbing the spots, ecause tht can make it spread.

Antibiotics will clear it up super quickly.
