Brown/black discharge. Really worried.....

Hi everyone.

I had a leep procedure about 3 1/2 months ago which is basically when part of your cervix is removed due to the surface appearing abnormal/unhealthy. I would expect this kind of discharge shortly after the procedure, but not nearly 4 months down the line!! I know it's not my cervix that's the problem as all those tests results came back clear. However, i'm starting to really worry that it could be something else. Why am I getting so much of this kind of discharge?

Has anyone got any experience of this? It's been going on for around a week and is actually quite heavy. Like I say, it's virtually black at times, so it's very alarming to see.

Really appreciate any advice.

Thanks for reading. Sorry for the somewhat icky contents.

go to your doctor - any sort of unusual discharge especially black or dark brown should be investigated. it may well be nothing but should not be left especially if it is not improving

I'm making an appointment with my GP tomorrow. I just wanted to see if anyone had had a similar experience.

When I googled it, it said it could be a build up of blood from my last period. I recently had an internal follow up examination, which came back fine. I suppose that doesn't rule out other things though.

Just really scared. I've had so many health scares recently, it's ridiculous!

Do u use tampons? Is there any chance you forgot one ? Happened to me once Blush

Not to worry you, but my friend just had exactly the same symptoms as you have described and it turned out she had an ectopic pregnancy.

Any chance you could be pregnant?

Are you nearing the menopause or missed periods? Can get dark/black discharge-what I think of as 'old' blood. Not a very medical description but....

I had This several years ago and was sent to see a consultant who performed a hysteroscopy and took a biopsy from my uterus. Nothing abnormal was ever found but the were very quick of the mark checking it out. It eventually stopped when I fell pregnant with my son and I think it was caused by a hormone Imbalance- caused by stopping a pill pack half way through- which a pregnancy sorted out. My ds is 3 now and it's never come back.

I've had 3 lletz procedures and have never bled afterwards except for very minor spotting for a few days.

Definitely got and see your GP and do a pregnancy test. As someone else has said prune juice like discharge can be a sign of ectopic pregnancy.

harbing, I really hope it's not the bloody menopause! I'm only 28! Having said that, I know it's not unheard of and if anything is becoming more and more common.

Pretty sure i'm not pregnant, as there's not really been any, ahem, action in the bedroom for a while.

It started off as a mid month bleed, which is normal for me, but over the last week has got increasinly darker and is increasing in general. It's gettting to the stage where I need to wear a pad, which i've never had to do before. I've also got like a burning feeling in my lower tummy, which isn't really like a middle of the month or period pain. It feels more like when I had the lletz procedure and that was because, effectively, I was being burnt.

Most of the cr*p we put up with could be hormonal. Awful that the menopause is getting earlier.
Now you've told more about the burning feeling, that's not ormal. Get to the GP and get referred asap. Stamp your foot if nec.
Get seen and good luck
