AIBU to consider taking DS (2.5) to Turkey for 1.5 days without any injections?

It's a long story but we are meant to be going to Turkey next Friday until Sunday. DS is 2.5 and is upto date with his usual injections. We didn't really think about injections but my SIL has just asked if we've had our injections for going abroad. Never really had any myself although DH and I did have some for our honeymoon (Bali, Fiji and NZ). We're going to a gated resort and will not be travelling outside at all. Are we being irresponsible to even consider going without getting any further injections, for DS especially?

We didnt have extra jabs for turkey - me, dh, dd and ds. The kids were almost 3 and almost 6 years old.

What injections would you need to get for Turkey?

ApricotPoodle · 16/06/2012 18:41

No injections needed in particular for Turkey. It will be absolutely fine.

I would want my kids to have had a measles shot before going to Turkey.

You don't need any injections to go to Turkey.

So no, your SIL doesn't know what she is on about!

None required. We went last summer and our one year old was just fine. I think YAB more U for only going for 1.5 days. It's such a lovely place, I had trouble tearing myself away after a fortnight Grin

Thank you thank you thank you. Having injections is something my family have never really done but the In-Laws don't like travelling/flying so choose to do everything by the book. She googled 'injections for turkey' and it suggested tetanus, hep A & B and some others (wasn't really listening tbh) and started to freak DH out. They made out I was being a bit foolhardy!

Curly - if all goes to plan we should end up having a holiday home in Turkey so the 1.5 days is just to check out the apartments we're considering investing in! So excited :)

Tetanus is included in the standard immunisations for babies/young children, as is diptheria. I can see some sites recommend Hep A, this is usually caught from food and water so if you are careful the risks should be tiny.
