choclab · 16/06/2012 07:02

hi , worried sick , last night i found one of my lymph glands up on my right groin like where knickers sit to right a bit from that area , worried what could be ...:-(

i have had glands up in past on neck and pits , and doc has just said they often come up due to infection and sometimes don't go down or take time to ..
could this be the case with a groin one ? although i feel fine , bit run down but most of us are ....

i will get appt , but god knows when as can never get in ..

but in mean time I'm trying to keep in perspective ....any one had similar ...

If it was something all overish, yes, it would Smile

Sounds like good things trigger the anxiety? I get that. Sort of a version of 'I don't deserve/expect/trust wonderful things to happen' so if you book a holiday, it follows something awful will happen!

Really honestly doesn't sound worrying, choc, so make a GP appointment as a peace of mind strategy, and start preparing for your holiday. Its amazing how many sudden 'omg I have to get this checked out in case its xyz' visits to doctors I've had just before a holiday - totally relate!

Stop it choclab Grin
Btw you can make any part of you granular and bigger by checking/ poking at it, let alone an already swollen for no sinister reason gland.

choclab · 18/06/2012 17:09

been googling , Sad said on one site , if the gland less that 2cm or 3/4 of an inch in a young adult or child considered normal ....im just 40 ....it is less than that slightly ...Hmm def no bigger that 2 cm ...

does that make me higher risk ,,, tried to get appt today but no joy , got to call tomorrow ...see if i can get seen for piece of mind ...

and yes have been poking again ...cant help it ...feel happy then worry ..

someone needs to slap me ...Sad

You are beyond MN help Smile

No, you are not higher risk. Yes, you need an appointment, otherwise you will drive yourself potty.

Its not long since your blood test, I would bet anything you are fine. Glands can take AGES to go back to normal - when was your last infection (viral, bacterial, any sort)?

choclab · 18/06/2012 17:47

sorry EB ...Sad

no idea last infection although did have boil thing down there(due to shaving ) few years back and a little pimple thinking about it around xmas ..Hmm soon went once i gave a squeeze Blush thrush at christmas and in march again ...

it could well be there for some time ...and i just noticed ..

i don't know I'm nuts , or i feel it , its by no means HUGE like a grape or melon ..lol

but i got myself in a twizz ...

and doc did sy some time ago when i went for glad in neck that they can stay up for ages and sometimes never regain there" normal form "

Oh, choclab, I'm sorry to see that you are still in the grip of HA Sad

Re:lymph node. There's quite a few of them in your groin area and some will be more palpable, some barely so. I have a few that I can feel, same under arms and on my neck. It is normal for them to swell because of more less obvious reasons and very often they stay bigger for a while/forever. From what you said it sounds totally normal.

Now, I agree with the poster above who said that it's because you have something nice planned (holiday) you feel that all cannot be good and well and some sort of disaster is due to strike. That is not so, it is perfectly possible to have a long stretch of time when nothing bad happens (and for most people, nothing really terrible happens for most of their life). Just relax, enjoy the thought of holidays...and get thee to the GP again, please, to tackle the HA.

Elibean · 18/06/2012 19:24

don't be sorry, choc Smile I'm sorry you feel so bad, HA is a bugger.

Winny speaks sense. Sounds like the thrush made it come up, and up it has stayed - mine were up for weeks and weeks and weeks after the shingles.

Good luck getting gp apt!

choclab · 18/06/2012 20:13

thank you winnybella and EB,you have both been kind and understanding , regarding the HA , i have had a crap week last week which i goes has set me off.

i know you both talking sense , i guess I'm waiting for reassurance that someone has had same ...then i will feel better ..
seeking reassurance from the GP i guess is the only option ...i will try tomorrow to get an appt , but they mainly have emergency appt left on the day ...or its a 2 week wait ...

i do have some under my arm pit that have stayed up and haven't changed so maybe this is same Hmm

thank you for listening x

Well done Smile

Here's to reassurance in less than 2 hours. If you have some in arm pit, almost certainly same thing going on in groin.

choclab · 19/06/2012 16:49

Thanks EB I'm having kittens here ...Sad
going in a mo , ill report back later ...

Could just be ovulation? Lymph nodes in the groin swell during OV.

choclab · 19/06/2012 19:37
