Day 10 of period and bleeding not slowing

Feeling fed up, yesterday my period had almost stoped (day 9), now i'm in agony, doubled over and bleeding heavely (passing clots).

So fed up with thins, sick of going to the gp and being told 'its nothing', fed up of not being able to leave the house and fed up of being in pain for half the month Sad.

What could it be?

I am 30 years old, my periods have been like this for a while (but have usually finished by now), i'm having hot sweats, odd dreams and i feel drained.

Could b anything. You should ask for a referral now. Could be fibroids, endometriosis, early menopause, hormonal imbalance etc. don't be fobbed of this s not acceptable for you to be like this

I agree with Sneeze. Definitely ask for a referral. I have very similar symptoms but am menopausal. Even so, GP told me to go back if I was worried and they would refer me. There are things that can be done to help manage the bleeding - if nothing else, your GP should be doing that. Can you ask to see a different GP?

Marne,

If GP is continuing to be unhelpful change GP practice or at the very least see someone else within that practice. A GP should be referring you onto a gynae for further evaluation.

Fibroids and endometriosis can cause heavy bleeding and pain respectively.

Do not put up with this, insist on a referral to a gynae as a matter of urgency.

You will need to be persistant in order to get answers.

Hi marne my sister had exactly those symptoms before she was diagnosed with fibroids. Her periods were really heavy and painful that she couldn't even go to work. She also was passing blood clots. She is on tramadol now for period pain, please keep nagging the dr, and get it checked. Good luck.

Thank you for your posts, i will try the gp again and push for something to be done. GP keeps pushing me to get the coil fitted but i really don't want to (would rather find out whats wrong).

I had the same a couple of years ago, it turned out that I had fibroids, the gp gave me something to stop the bleeding, can't remember what it was sorry, as I am anemic anyway and the blood loss was making me worse

As the others have said get a referral and see a different gp if no joy

I had periods like yours two years ago. One went on for two weeks until I decided it was unlikely to stop on it's own and went to the doctors.

She prescribed norethisterone tablets which stopped it and I got a referral to a gynae. It turned out I had endometriosis and a cyst.

Make sure you get listened to as it's not good for you to have long heavy periods. You may need some iron tablets aswell.

Hope this helps.
