anyone else get them?

i have a massive atm in my neck. it is bloody painful. dh called the ambulance out at 6am. have taken co-dydramol and have applied heat and ibuleve gel but cant move my neck to the left without a spasm of pain going. my last one was about 5years ago, was so bad it tore the muscles in my neck leaving me bruised for over a month. am trying to gently stratch my neck doing gentle exercises as i was told to do this last time but i end up with tears streaming down my face.

i have a heap of housework to do and cant do it. luckily mieow has taken my oldest dd for the day, all grandparents are away atm. mine and in spain and his are in middlesborough.

A really good way to relax a muscle spasm is to heat a cupful or so of salt in a saucepan (dishwasher salt is better than table salt), pour it into the corner of a pillowcase, roll up the pillowcase and use it as a hot dry compress. For some reason this works better than a hot water bottle. Poor you, I do hope it eases soon.

I had a horrible muscle spasm in my neck when I was 8 weeks pregnant - I couldn't take anything stronger than paracetamol and it was complete agony - I ended up off work and in tears at my GPs and the only thing that worked in the end was acupuncture, which he was trained in. Worked almost instantly - gave me a migraine which lasted 24 hours but then after that it was wonderful - no pain at all.

Phone your GP and see if they do it, or could recommend someone - definitely highly recommended by me!

the spasm sort of calmed down sunday evening. the muscle feels very tight and 'bruised' on the left side of my neck. still taking painkillers and trying to remember not to make any sudden head turns to the left. it is very painful, i had forgotton how bad it was last time. but remember now why i had time of work.
