Its my birthday tomorrow and i was hoping to have a few drinks to celebrate at home and just wondered if anybody had been on these and knows?

It doesn't mention anything about alcohol in the leaflet and im supposed to be going out somewhere Saturday where there may be alcohol (is a surprise im not sure where im going though so just a guess!)

Any advice would be appreciated :-)

your not supposed to , I was told one or two drinks wouldn't hurt.

The reason I think is due to your heart rate getting lower with alcohol and the beta blockers are making your heart rate lower - so it could go to low iyswim

Just to add some more information the tablets dont seem to be doing a whole lot of difference im still getting a racing heart when i walk or so stairs so if its still quite fast would that make a difference?

I'm on beta blockers, but metoprolol.

I was told by pharmacist that it was fine to drink alcohol as long as I didn't 'go daft'.

I only ever have a couple anyway tbh but on occasion have been pissed tipsy, and I'm still alive to tell the tale Grin

I thought the same SDG - that was until the gp had to take them off me abruptly and then I found out how much they had been doing...

Hey just wondering how your day was, hope you enjoyed it and your heartbeat behaved itself!

SleepyDopeyGrumpy · 20/06/2012 15:31

Hi lona thanks for thinking of me :-)

I didn't drink anything on my birthday as i decided, because i was going out Saturday i didn't want to go mad and im ashamed to say i did over indulge but other than having a tough time dealing with the stairs in the club and being unable to dance i did have a nice time with only a few noticeable palpitations!
