Ezcema (I think) and itchy scalp

I have some sore itchy and scaly patches of skin on my face- mainly round my eyes, on the side of my cheek near to my neck and just below my bottom lip. It's driving me nuts, I have hydrocortisone cream and E45 cream but it still flares up. I also have an itchy flakey scalp too, I have tried loads of different shampoos (including head and shoulders) and nothing seems to help. Anyone got any pearls of wisdom they can share or anything you have tried that helps? Thanks in advance Smile

Hi, I get flakey scalp too. Not dandruff as such.
I find E45 actually makes me worse! I think I react to the lanolin because wool jumpers aggravate my eczema in the crook of my arms.
Best shampoo I've found is T-gel for sensitive scalp. It leaves my hair nice and soft too. It's important to keep well hydrated. I try not to blow dry for very long or too hot as that makes it worse.
What are the patches like?
Are they red with silvery flakes? Or just red with white small flakes? I think you should consult your GP and maybe push for a dermatology review.

Definitely see your GP. I was prescribed some shampoo which took away the itch for me.

Otherwise T-Gel shampoo.

T gel shampoo but only the one for greasy hair as it has salycic acid in as that will get rid of the scaly patches. For washing skin make sure you don't use anything with additives, my dd age 17 can only use halos and horns the orange one and has never been able to use e45 or any of those type of products without her skin flaring up. She uses hydrocortisone but also fucidin which seems to do the trick when she has odd patches.

Thanks both. I should probably make an appointment with my GP. Faith the patches on my face start red and angry and then dry out and become white and flakey,is that ezcema? I will get some T gel- can you use conditioner with it?

Sounds more like psoriasis but either way your GP should be able to give you an idea. I would push for dermatology assessment. I had skin patch testing to ensure I wasn't reacting to any specific things/chemicals and get prescription stuff called Dermol which can be a moisturiser but is prescribed for me as hand soap. They just give you a clear diagnosis, help you recognise if you're allergic to anything and get you good stuff on prescription!

I only get it on my face and neck, my body is never affected. So annoying and itchy. I will make an appointment at with my GP thanks for your advice everyone Smile

My dd has contact dermatitus could it be that? doctor prescribed a special shampoo for it.
She gets an itchy head, along with flaky painful scabs but the bottle i got was tiny and had nearly run out, would Tgel be ok does anyone know?
Its infamously hard to get an appointment at our docs, so would like summin over-the-counter?
