I have to go for a smear every year due to CINIII in 1999. I have had quite a heavy discharge over the last couple of months, but hoped it would go away by itself. I went for my smear on Friday and the nurse said my cervix was very red and swollen and bled a little bit on contact. I am beside myself with worry as i'm convinced I've now got the c word. She took a swab test at the same time. I went for my previous smear just over a year ago that came back clear, but I was pregnant at the time (i didn't know) and have been told this can affect the result. Help!!

Oh magnum, that must be so hard! When will you know the results?

I have to phone up for swab result on Thursday, smear result won't be back for 4 weeks.

Crikey, that's a long time to try not to tear your hair out! I've had times when I was anxiously awaiting test results (liver biospies), but I can only imagine how hard it is for you. Have you told anyone, friends or family, who can give you support as you wait?

Sorry if I put you off before about the length of time to wait for test results. Just wanted to add that it's good that you've been getting screened every year, so that they can catch any changes early on.
