EUGHH!!! YUK!

Ummmm get a (long) straw put a bit of tights/stocking over the end (over the end in your mouth) and suck with the other end in your ear????

Do you have a child nasal aspirator/mucus remover thing? That would suck it out too.

I once saw a doc about a woman in africa dripping neat vodka into the ear canals of kids in a camp.
The alcohol kills the insect and it comes to the surface. She said it was quite effective.

What ruby said. Gently though you don't want fleas on the brain Wink

KalSkirata · 09/06/2012 17:54

dark room and shine a torch. The insect will crawl out to the light. Unles its an earwig.

miniwedge · 09/06/2012 17:54

Hoover. It's the only way. If you haven't got a dyson see if you can borrow one for the extra suction power.

Disclaimer; DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!!

gnocci · 09/06/2012 17:55

Hold a sweet near your ear, maybe it likes sugar

miniwedge · 09/06/2012 17:56

OR........ If you don't want vodka in your ear drink it and then you won't care about your new friend.

UnChartered · 09/06/2012 17:57

go to an OOO service, they will float it out

please don't poke anything into your ear Sad

gnocci · 09/06/2012 17:57

Put an insect in the other ear so you are symetrical

Spink · 09/06/2012 17:58

Argh, I've tried the water but it's still there, fluttering around madly, it is so stupidly tickly. Will try the vodka once kids are in bed, it's the middle of tea time so a madhouse here ATM. Thanks for the advice this is so gross Sad

Poor you! I think you need more water and tilt your head for longer

Ok, 2 water flushes later and no fluttering. I've not seen anything come out tho (ew) so maybe I've just drowned or temporarily stunned it.. And my children now think I'm a total loop for 'not just washing your ears in the bath' .. I didn't tell them about insecto for fear of traumatising them!

I thought I read that olive oil was supposed to do the trick- like water but with oil?

AnyoneforTurps · 09/06/2012 18:22

Yes, olive oil to drown it. Will probably then come out by itself (dead) but see your GP if it hasn't appeared by next week as leaving foreign bodies in the ear long-term can lead to infections (not a problem to leave it for a few days though).
