Eczema waking dd at night?

I am new to mumsnet but need advice on my daughter's eczema. She is 9 months old and it's only just come on, it's not very bad, it's on her back and tummy but not anry looking, just dry and red and patchy. Problem is she's waking up a lot at night now and I wondered if it could be bothering her enough to wake her up. She only wants cuddles and wont let me leave her room.
Anyone with eczema experience know how disruptive this is likely to be for us?

Hi Almostfamous, my DD2 also suffered from eczema as a baby and this did cause her to wake a lot during the night. Her skin got very bad though and she ended up in hospital with bandages etc. Luckily she seems to have grown out of this and now sleeps all night. I think that this will cause your DD to wake as I know how itchy this can be. I've heard that homeopathy is very effective for eczema although by the time we tried this my DD's skin was so bad thats when she went into hospital. Its worth trying different creams as some suit others better. Good Luck.....

Hi Almostfamous - sorry to hear about your daughter. My dd1 was the same, her's came on at 11 months when I switched from bf to formula. What seemed to help was
? non-bio washing powder, using extra rinsing at the end of washing cycle
? warm baths each night before bed and then Aqueous cream (available on prescription) on affected areas afterwards which is nice and soothing
? aloe gel straight from the plant if it gets hot and itchy

Also, is there anything new you have recently introduced into her diet? Or into the house - washing powder change or something? Have a think as perhaps it's just one particular thing triggering it. With my daughter it was fruit juice of any kind, but it took me ages to work this out as it's not an obvious one.
My daughter has now grown out of it at the age of 7 and hopefully yours will too. Good luck.

have a look here
