i dont know whether to trouble my dr (i'm a frequent vistor!) been getting stomach cramps on and off for last 2 days, today they have been so bad but they aren't constant i liken it to early labour its awful but bearable and in similar waves...

i have no other symptoms, felt slightly queasy briefly but i think its the pain doing that, no fever at all, i dont feel like i have a bug i can still eat and i feel slightly better as i eat but im not sure if its making it worse? i have recently started cerazette contraceptive pill so i dont know if its that, but its proper painful paracetemol havent helped...

i've been in and out of the drs recently with chest infections thats cleared up now this :(

Is it on one side or both sides? I ask because I have recent experience of a large ovarian cyst, and like you I found that it was very painful, came in waves, and made me sick. With me, the pain was on one side, close to my hip. However, I guess it could be a number of different things, and worth checking with the doctor. I ended up first in OOH, then in A&E with mine.

OK I would suggest calling NHS Direct for their advice. You may also be able to get a GP to visit you at home. Hope you feel better soon.

Shakey1500 · 07/06/2012 22:31

Could be constipation? I never dreamed that constipation could be so painful till I ended up in A&E. An x-ray a few sighing doctors and a very embarrassing enema later confirmed it. I was expecting the worst. Still haven't lived down the "we always said you were full of shit" jokes Blush

saladsandwich · 07/06/2012 23:00

aww at the jokes, well i dont think im constipated my bowels seem pretty good working order at the minute i just dnt know what it is, its like a bad trapped wind.

for the last few months i feel lie i've been in that drs every week and its gettng me down... my area the out of hours dr maes you an appointment for the next day everytime its a waste of air ringing them :(

Have you had any previous operations on your tummy? I just ask because it sounds like when I had adhesions (scar tissue) from a previous op and it had trapped the small intestine.

If it is something like that it can cause a bowel obstruction, the advice I was given was to rest, lie down, don't eat until it has cleared. If it gets more painful, your tummy swells up and you start vomiting a lot, go to the A and E.

Oh and in general to avoid fibre/ roughage. Hope it's not this though it's not a nice thing. Good luck

Marrow · 07/06/2012 23:02

Yes you should see your doctor. It could be any number of things but if paracetamol isn't helping then you need to get it checked out. Is there any chance you are pregnant? I have had several small bowel obstructions and the pain for those was a colicky, griping pain that would come in waves just like contractions. Hope you feel better soon.

saladsandwich · 07/06/2012 23:14

i'll see them tomorrow, i dont think im pregnant i'm on the pill and just had a period but ths pill is new... i feel sick with the pain but when that pains not there i fel fine but my chest and stomach feel so tired from being tensed up i think.

well gonna try and get a bit f sleep if i can, i'll watch out for vomitting

Hope you feel better soon, and you get checked out ok in the morning. I heard from someone on here A and E can be good to go to first thing in morning if in bad pain, or urgent docs appt. Take care.

DeWe · 08/06/2012 23:35

Are you feeling better? Round belly button can be apendix, so it's worth getting it checked if you're still feeling bad.
Hope you're better anyway.

Cluffyfunt · 08/06/2012 23:47

Hope you've been to see your gp by now, but if not please do go.
I had pains like you were describing and as DeWe said it was my appendix.

GiantPuffball · 08/06/2012 23:52

Could be appendicitis, get medical advice ASAP.

fattyfatfat · 08/06/2012 23:55

Does sound like appendicitis because of round belly button area any higher I would say gallstones

saladsandwich · 09/06/2012 06:54

well went to the drs and she thinks i have acid so gotta take acid pills, the pains gone a bit but i'm still not 100% still getting pain in waves. dr didn't check me over or anything and now i feel like i've made a big fuss over nothing but these cramps are so bad when they are here... the pain is just above the belly button. i'll just have to see what today brings :/ thanks fr replying

Glad you have been to the doctors. Seems odd she didn't examine you though. I would have thought the pain is too low down to be acid. Hope she is right though and the tablets work for you.

PeachyPossum · 10/06/2012 09:21

I get acid pain like this. The waves are the acid coming up and onto tender tissue, it feels like waves/cramp and is horrendous. I have been known to cry and get faint from the pain. I hope you feel better and teh tablets work.

saladsandwich · 10/06/2012 14:57

i'm going back to the drs at some point i think, its not acid im pretty sure, the cramps have become less but i can feel pain all through my bowels now but this might be total coincidence but its almost like where ever food is in my system thats where the pain is but it seems alot better thanks
