Tonsillitis - does anyone know....?

if your gums and lips are bothered when you get it?

My ds (5.5) has tonsillitis and his gums look really red and swollen. He has a large blister on the front of his tongue and a small blister on his lip, which looks swollen.

I have had tonsillitis many times myself but can't remember having any of the above problems.

Have looked on a few web sites but none mention these problems.

TIA

Was wondering if I should talk to Dr?

What do you think? Am I just being over anxious?

DS has tonsillitis at the moment, just checked, his gums and lips are fine.

I would go to the gp.

Have phoned the GPs and they are going to get someone to phone back.

I've never heard of it either. if you get a blister on the tonsils it's called quinsy..which is pretty rare. does he get cold sores?

the son of a friend of mine has coldsores and when he had his first one (priming?) it was very painful, like the virus was "bedding in" and causing havoc.

Mistymoo · 22/02/2006 15:37

MN wins again!

GP just phoned and said it is part of the herpes virus which causes coldsores.

Poor ds is having a right time of it. He lost his first tooth today as well and was VERY upset.

poor him misty! the only thing that helps with the pain of my coldsores is blisteze (someone else makes it now, but it's still in the blue and white tube with a red lid)...

maybe the tooth fairy could leave him something extra special
