Sorry for anyone squeamish.

I contracted herpes from a boyfriend about 3 years ago. I went to the GUM clinic and was told it was oral herpes he had that had been transferred to my genital area.

We are no longer together.

My outbreaks are nowhere near as bad as the first one but I am still getting 5-6 outbreaks a year on my vagina. I don't get sores any more. Just very itchy and run down.

My question is do I have to go to my Doctor to get Acyclovir? Or can I go to the GUM clinic to prescribe the Acyclovir as I believe they don't pass on the information to my doctor. My main reason for not wanting my doctor involved is because I have had mental health issues in the past and I don't want him to think this is dragging me down again. It's not. I'm just sick of the itching.

I have no intention of starting a sexual relationship ever again.

Thank you if anyone has the time to reply.

Zovirax - (cold sore medication) over the counter, much cheaper, very effective. It is just cold sores. You will have sex again. Ask your dr is there a group you can talk to - there are many people in the same position.
Oh, & I had my dc 4 yrs after diagnosis - no issues at all, this was 15 yrs ago.
