breast abscess or infected cyst?

I have had a little white flattish lump about the size of my little finger nail in my breast for years and recently it was examined with ultra sound at the breast clinic just to make sure it was ok and they said they were very sure it wasn't malignant - then on monday i noticed that it had grown into a round hard disc bigger than a 10p piece - its very sore and bright red and hot, the redness is spread over half of my breast. i went to the doctors and she gave antibiotics which i've been taking since monday afternoon.

So far its stayed the same although the redness might have increased - will this go away? Is there pus in it? will the pus come out? How have i got it?

its still there today- if anything its got bigger and harder - i've been on antibiotics since tuesday and no improvement......

Waving! Try a hot compress. Soak a washcloth in very hot water, squeeze it out and apply. That will soothe it and maybe help it come to a head.

I'm fed up with the antibiotics as they make me feel sick and not myself :(

Should have mentioned this before--turmeric might help you. It is a spice used in curry. Indian grocery stores have it in bulk, but it is also in capsules at Walmart, health food stores, maybe drug stores. You can take it orally, but also make a poultice of it and Neosporin or any cream. It might start tingling in as little as ten minutes.

i've been back to the doctors and she's referred me to the breast clinic at the hospital - my appointment is wednesday 6th june -this is the first available appt. She gave me a different antibiotic too and drew a line round it and if it gets any bigger i've got to go straight back to her.

I was hoping i'd get an appointment sooner as i just want to be rid off it.

This is lasting a long time, isn't it? What do you think of my turmeric remedy? I kind of (not 100%) wish I had a boil or something so I could try it.

I'm nervous of trying it Hansie in case it somehow makes it worse. :)
It seems less painful so i'm hoping these new antibio's are helping.
I tried to get an earlier appt at the hospital or a cancellation but no go, so its wait and see on the 6th june.

Since it is taking so long to get in, it might be gone before the appt. Does the hot compress soothe it?
