I've heard from midwives that after being pregnant it's quite normal to be about a centemetre or so 'dilated' all the time... but definately get it checked anyway, just in case... try not to worry though honestly,. I'm sure a lot of women are they just don't go..er.. feeling around

fastasleep · 19/02/2006 13:00

(It's good that you do go feeling around though, as this is how you spot things like this!)

Flamesparrow · 19/02/2006 13:03

I was told the same FA - After one pregnancy a lot of women are just constantly dilated about 1-2cms. I would say that it is probably fine, but go and get checked out anyway as it will put your mind at rest.

Again, don't be embarrassed... I have no idea what mine would be like, and that is probably a bad thing, as it means I have no idea what it would feel like if it was wrong.

Your cervix won't be as shut tight as it used to be before having your baby, whatswrong. After childbirth it never quite goes back to what it was (like much of the rest of our body after giving birth, in fact ) The cervical opening is actually now more of a 'slit' than a tiny pinprick, so it is perfectly normal for it to feel different.

However...can you actually insert the fingertip, iyswim? Sorry if that's a bit personal but obviously there are degrees of normality and if you are still worried you can always get it checked out anyway. But it sounds pretty par for the course to my (admittedly inexperienced and untrained) mind.

Of course should hastily add that you shouldn't go trying to insert your finger into your cervix - am sure you know what I'm trying to get at though!

fastasleep · 19/02/2006 13:08

DEffo think you should still go to GP, even if it's normal... because otherwise it'll bug you!
