here we go...

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 28/05/2012 14:24

He does doesn't he? Grin - they were so close to the shore, and they weren't remotely bothered by people looking at them.

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/05/2012 18:15

I've seen a few just off shore at Dunwich and Walberswick- bless Grin
No tap -plumber on an emergency call that took much longer than anticipated- I have been wasting the whole day waiting and feeling anxious. I put them off trying again tomorrow as I have to go out late morning and won't be around for either of their time slots- and to be honest I can't face it on my own so asked them to come next week when dh is home..bit pathetic I know.

OP posts:
graciesmall09 · 28/05/2012 20:27

mas that is a shame about your tap. Not pathetic at all. I hate tradesmen coming when Dh not here.

kurri he is gorgeous, he looks like he is smiling.

Topsy Grin at odd shoes - I'm hoping I remember to take my slippers off before the school runs.

gigs thinking of you and your appointment. You are definitely due a change of fortune. Hope you enjoy France.

Well, picc flush and syringe driver set up for me tomorrow and then chemo on wednesday. Hopefully it will work wonders and I will not disappear for a few days. I am thinking of returning to work on my good days, bit worried about travelling on public transport, bit stupid I know but I worry about the sneezing and snuffling that usually goes on. Would love to stay off until treatment over but financially I know it will be better for me to go back. Did anyone else work/travel during chemo?

topsyturner · 28/05/2012 21:14

Good luck for tomorrow Gig , will light my candle for you x

Gracie here's hoping you find the syringe driver as much of a life saver as I did . I can honestly say it helped me sail through chemo !

Grrr to absent plumbers mas . PITA !

The temperature here has just dropped a couple of degrees , it's lovely !
Am hoping it will make all the difference to me sleeping tonight .

DH is watching a program on WW2 artefacts being unearthed in NI .
I would have gone to bed but Dan Snow is hosting it and I'm having a bit of a perve Grin

I have the final episode of The Bridge to watch in bed tonight . Did anyone watch it ? Was a Swedish/Danish drama on BBC4 . It's been very good .

Gigondas · 28/05/2012 21:16

I think smee may have worked and amber? Isn't it akin to what you would do with a newborn? So travelling in summer wouldn't worry me if no issue with neutro what's it called.

Hope driver etc works well - am keen for tips ( one being no bloody students as my arm was butchered doing injection for scan this morning).

And hope you are right about change of luck.

mas that is Angry about tap.

Hi to everyone else

Gigondas · 28/05/2012 21:18

Cross posts - hi topsy. Wish it would drop here- mini gig not enjoying the heat.

snoopygirl · 28/05/2012 21:18

Hi all Just a quick one and shall be back tomorrow.

Kurri aah he's so sweet, what a lovely day out.

Love to ned and Topsy* xx

gracie I know where your coming from. Sore tonsils today and have tried to rest this morning but couldn't aas thinking infection, hosp and well you know the slippery slope your mind goes on after that!
1st chemo for me not too bad and anti sick seems to be adequate. Just knackered and instead of worrying about Lorazapam addiction i'm just going to take it when need it! that's what it's for.

gig hope today went ok and enjoy France (my favourite place).

smee thanks for asking after me and party sounds mad bet they loved it. My DS is like the devil when he gets the hose in his hand!

x

KurriKurri · 28/05/2012 21:21

topsy - DD and I were completely hooked on the Bridge - it was brilliant.
DD bought me the box set of the Killing for Christmas and we were obsessed with that too.

Good luck with the driver gracie - hope it helps Smile

Gigondas · 28/05/2012 21:30

snoopy glad today ok. I wouldn't worry about taking what you need- very unlikely to get addicted.

KurriKurri · 28/05/2012 21:43

Snoopy, glad you are doing OK Smile - totally agree with Gig, take what you want when you need it, - I took lorazepam when needed, and didn't get addicted at all.

Gig - have a lovely time in France Smile

topsyturner · 28/05/2012 21:44

kk found another one on I player called Sebastian Bergman that looks interesting .
Might watch that in bed tonight .
Am also watching The Killing , but having to watch the American version as DH likes it too , and he doesnt do subtitles !

amberlight · 28/05/2012 21:45

Snoopy, i think drugs only cause addiction when they're not needed, if you see what I mean.

Gracie, I worked all the way through chemo except for a few days, but i run my own business a mile from the house, so it was easy for me to adjust my working pattern and sit quietly. And I don't do public transport v often (sensory issues with the autism) so only had my own car to worry about. Every person and every job situation is different. But it is possible, yes.

topsyturner · 28/05/2012 21:45

And Snoopy I too agree , if you need it , take it !

topsyturner · 28/05/2012 21:46

Keep meaning to ask how you are doing this week Amber ?
Have the aches and pains settled yet ?

KurriKurri · 28/05/2012 21:47

Ooh - will look that one up topsy, - I rather like the subtitles, - I can pretend I speak Danish by saying 'Tak' every so often Grin

topsyturner · 28/05/2012 21:47
topsyturner · 28/05/2012 21:49

I kid myself I am now fluent in Swedish/Danish now .
I was also watching Inspector Montelbano and of course can now speak Italian ...
Grin

graciesmall09 · 28/05/2012 21:59

topsy DH watching that WW2 thing too [yawn].

snoopy glad you are still feeling ok. I had a sore throat with my first chemo but I think it was more raw than sore. As long as your temperature is ok.

Amber hope you are feeling a bit better and the aches have eased.

I'm off to bed to watch some Come Dine with Me. See you all tomorrow.

amberlight · 28/05/2012 22:00

I'm doing alrightish today thanks - was feeling really ropey up to yesterday thanks to that triple dose of local anaesthetic.

Gigondas · 28/05/2012 22:08

Glad you are doing better- anaesthetics can be a massive comedown for some days after.

BubbleBobble · 28/05/2012 23:44

Ladies, can I ask a tamoxifen question please? I started taking mine on the 1st May and I've had a period since then. For the last few days, I've been getting pelvic pain almost exactly like period pain except there's a feeling of pressure too. Tonight it's intensified and I'm wondering what the hell it can be? I have a feeling it's the tamoxifen, I'm in the middle of my cycle at a guess and I've never ever had ovulation pain.

I'm also panicking that it could be uterine or ovarian cancer, which I'm trying to tell myself is ridiculous because my breast cancer didn't spread to my lymph nodes but at the same time, I know it's not a ridiculous fear because I'm at increased risk for them now.

I know the answer is to see my doctor and I'm going to ring and ask for an appointment in the morning, but I am curious if anyone else has experienced anything similar.

jchocchip · 29/05/2012 05:59

Hi bubble, its early days, go see your gp and have you got a breast care nurse you can phone for reassurance? The tamoxifen does alter your cycle, currently I'm about 6 days overdue and feeling achey and miserable. Have appt to see gp on Thursday myself. Its natural to worry, but some of it might be a dose of normal parranoia. Every ache I get is bone mets for a minute...

jchocchip · 29/05/2012 06:09

Just read back through and have to say aww at fluffy goslings and kks handsome new chap :)

Will get up now and put a Brew on have a nice cold drink. Think I will cycle down the canal and look for fluffy ducklings on my way to work.

Waves to everyone, can't believe it is still so hot!

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/05/2012 07:34

bubble really don't think it's anything nasty- just probably a tamoxifen side effect faffing with your hormones- I have had very disrupted periods since taking tamox. -they were regular as anything before, despite my probably heading for menopause ~(this is from starting it coming up to 3 years ago) but I do get abdominal aches which feel like periods then no period. But do ask gp or bcn for reassurance.
Just realised that ds leaves for NYC a week today !
Am off to have my eyes tested and contact lens check up this morning
love to all - ned are you home yet ?

OP posts:
topsyturner · 29/05/2012 08:18

Morning All

Not on Tamoxifen Bubble so I'm no help . But will hold your hand whilst you wait to find out !

What a handsome beach companion kk , I want one !

Good luck to Gig today . Let us know how it went if you are not to busy turfing random mumsnetters out of your French France suitcase ...

Are you chemo-ing today Gracie ?

Amber glad you are feeling a little better . Do be kind to yourself though .

Not much happening here today . It's my first day of no children since Friday , so I shall enjoy the peace !
Just have to wait for the nurses , so I think I will plant myself on the sofa again whilst I do that .

Egg mayo sarnies on the fbs trolley today (what can I say , I have a craving !)
