I have sciatica down my right leg thru my buttock down the back of my leg and into my ankle with this I also have the same pain through my right arm from my spine thru my upper arm and into my wrist and thumb.

My GP has me on 60mg Nortryptiline and a dose of Meloxicam with a side helping of Co-Dydramol when I flare up like this, I have taken all of the above (30 mins ago to be precise) and my arm and my leg are still screaming at me.

Good people of Mumsnet, help me out here!

Sad poor you, if you can mange a hot deep bath, lay on tummy with legs bent at kness with lower legs in air- if you know what I mean? place chin on both hands cupped, elbowd on bottom of bath and swish your elbows from middle out ways and back again. don this as long as you can keep it up and topping bath up from hot tap with feet Grin.

alternate walking up and down stairs and laying in this position on hard floor. and laying on tummy on sofa or bed, try not to sit too long on bottom. when you are resting you need lay on back with legs supported by cusions so your thighs are raised with cusions under neath and lower legs bent down with feet aligned and flat on sofa, again if you understand what I mean?

Also sounds silly but if you have a big strong man in house and a strong bed stead hold bedstead laying face down and get him to pull you out flat gripping firmly around shins (not anckles). all of these will reduce the added possibility of your discs falling on each other due to sitting down and help release the nerve.

All of these work for me. x

also medication I find help the best is codydramol and slow releasing voltarol one am qand one pm withe dydramol through out day. the slow releasing voltarol is better as it does not wear off.

Thank you.

I am in the process of running a hot bath now for some relief. I think i'm going to set up camp on the floor tonight (DP will think I'm mad!) and if i'm still like this tomorrow I'll try the third one, I would try it now but DP is asleep already and he'll think i'm mad for sure what with wanting to sleep on the floor and everything! :)

honestly I feel your pain, have not suffered for a while but these will all work, sounds a bit gruling but alternating between these and resting on back will help. good luck. xx

There is no way to describe it other than I really would rather have the 'ring of fire' part of childbirth over and over than put up with this!! :(

Hopefully the bath will help.
