My symptoms include -

Constantly thirsty
Constantly hungry yet the more I eat, the more weight I lose. If I try and diet, my weight loss stops and I quite often begin to put weight ON.
Random bouts of tiredness. I can be fine one minute, then the next I feel like I could just curl up on the floor and sleep. This usually happens around 1-2pm.
I have no sex drive.
My periods are light and only last a day. 2 days max.
I sometimes get very hyper and turn giggly, silly and very childish. Start winding people up on purpose, do silly things for no reason (like move my mums rug because I know it annoys her).
I have many bouts of insomnia. Usually at least twice a week.
I have terrible mood swings. Top of the world one day, want to kill someone the next.

Doctor did a blood test (full blood count) and said there was nothing wrong with me. I have also done a wee test for diabetes and that was negative.

What do you reckon?? I've not stopped eating today.

well there is clearly something not quite right.

This sounds a bit basic, but with symptoms like that, did the doc actually test your thyroid?

Also, how much weight have you lost and over what period of time?

Could you be bipolar?

ShutUpMeg · 12/05/2012 16:28

I never told him all my symptoms last time so not sure if he checked for that or just anaemia (I do have iron deficiency anaemia).

My weight yo yos constantly. I put on weight quite rapidly a few months ago (put on a stone in 6 weeks) which looking back, was when I started a new job and had to stick to 3 basic meals a day. So I went on a diet and couldn't lose any weight. I even tried my old faithful atkins diet and the weight didn't shift. I got fed up of it and just ate whenever I was hungry (all the time!) and within a week, I'd lost almost have a stone. I thought "oo finally! I'll go on a diet and lose more weight!" and as soon as I started dieting - I put on weight again.

This week I've given in and have just started to eat whatever the hell I like and again, the weight is dropping off. I've lost 4lbs since Tuesday. No exercise either.

But I am constantly thirsty, constantly cold, keep having massive wee's and get irritable very, very quickly.

Bipolar is a bit of a sour point. I have the symptoms of the milder form (can't remember its name) but don't want to be diagnosed with it so I'm ignoring it!

Sorry Grin

Not sure what to say now might be worth considering

I guess you could start by checking they did a thyroid test - phone and ask what your tsh and t4 were

Otherwise, maybe make another appt and tell the gp more of your symptoms (write them down beforehand so you don't forget)

Fbc is just the basic blood test, there's a lot more gp can do if necessary
