diagnosed with pcos..6 months after starting metformin..no change in androstendipne and testosterone levels :(

Hoping someone can help me i was told after months of visits to my GP and finally getting referred to Endocrinologist that i have PCOS. I was started on Metformin last October..starting at 500mcg now taking 2000mcg a day..when i can stomach it :(.

I had my bloods checked few weeks ago bt my Andro and Testosterone levels havent changed the Andro has actually increasd by .4. Not nuch i kno but i thort that it would have decreased.

Im back to see consultant next wed so not long to wait...as anyone else been in same position? My own GP said that Consultant may try me on Dianette...anyone tried this or know about it...she did say its a anti androgen drug plus contraceptive pill. I was hoping not to be on the pill as im really wanting my periods bk to normal...as i do hope to concieve at some point.

My cycles have always been all over the place ranging from 63-72 days since being on met they have been 45 days 44, 35, 28 then 44 again??? So although theyv improved they still not regular. Please someone help me im fed up...also take thyroxine for underactive thyroid :( xxx

Hi there Shellmc I have been diagnosed with psoc a few years ago but have never taken medication for it. I did have problems falling pregnant but then went onto have two successful pregnancies.
The problem I have is excessive hair especially on my face I have already had ten treatments of laser hair removal which was great but its starting to grow back again.. I don't think any of what I have said is useful but its nice to know I am not the only one in the world who has this condition..

And my periods have never been regular since I have been young, I now use the mirena coil and I am fine with the hormones this releases though I was never able to take any contraceptive pill as it used to make my mind go crazy...

Hi twiggy71 thanku for your reply hun. I also have increased hair growth on my face arms back and stomach :(
My periods well i never know when they are going to show. Im glad to hear from you, can i ask why you never started on any medication?? Was this your own choice?? x
