Ds1 has been unwell since Saturday, he has temperature (which comes down with calpol), cough, snotty nose (sorry if tmi) and complaining of sore throat! He has not eaten since yeterday (ate two spoons of cereal in the morning), and his eyes have become very badly blood shot and gunky (and he is refusing to take calpol from his nan), and now i am not sure what it could be!
I am waiting for the surgery to open, there at lunch atm!
So thought i would ask other mner's for there opinions and advice to try and stop me worrying!

It came on all of a sudden, he was at nursery on friday and very happy friday night and then saturday, he was miserable, and was being very, very rude to everyone (which is not like him!)

Sounds like a nasty cold/infection. Quite common for snotty nose to lead to eye infections too I think. Doesn't sound like too muc to worry about but it's horrible when they're ill anyway I know.

FWIW both mine have had it in differing strengths and dd1 is unwell again today and yesterday with similar symptoms....noone is unscathed!

icklmum · 15/02/2006 15:13

ooh, it sounds like my ds possibly has the same flu-virus. hes had a bad cough for the last week which ive just been giving cough medicine for and hes not been too bad. But since sunday night his behaviour and backchat has become ridiculous im practically at the end of my tether with it!
Though this cough this morn developed into a bad earache so hes off school today and goin doc's later.
I feel awful for him now, if thats what is making him rude and grumpy, I dont blame him poor little thing.

Finally got through to the doctors and they said the earliest they can see him is tomorrow morning! Hopefully he will be a bit better by then, but i just hope he don't get any worst!
Thanks for your replys and will let you know what the doc says tomorrow!

The doctor has just said it's a viral infection! He will get over it!
Well how long should i allow him not to eat before contacting them again? He is drinking, but refusing to eat!

Any advice appreciated!

don't worry too much about the not eating, drinking is more important.he'll catch up when he's better.

mummy23 my dd who is 2.9 has just had a viral cold that lasted 10days, it was horrible and poor wee thing didn't sleep at night except naps during the day, she had runny nose for 3days(this is when it started), red watery eyes, not much of a cough except first 2 days but didn't bother her, then the sore throat and head started which was dreadful as her temp was at 40 so i kept giving her calpol and ibrobufen, then she complained her neck was sore(doctor said her glands were very swollen) eventually after the 10nights of no sleep she slept about 4hrs and then she was better next day, it did seem to take everything out of her though and has just started playing with her toys again, we went through 2 bottles of calpol and 1 ibrobufen and a few spooonfuls of cough medicine, I was so worried about her temp and everything else that when i googled it came up glandula fever, but doctor ruled it out, thank goodness hope your ds is better soon

Kidstrack2 · 16/02/2006 13:20

forgot to add that dd has lost about 8lbs I took her to hv and she weighed her, she didn't eat for 3days solid and only sipped water (think it was due to her throat being so sore) thats why i knocked the medicine into her so that she could at least drink, after the 3 days she ate a youghurt and sucked a lolly pop, then nxt day she only ate a banana the whole day, the nxt again day she ate a banana a youghurt and a kiwi, felt terrible at teatimes she would just lie on sofa, but then I made her fav spag bol and the nxt day italian pasta and she ate small portions of that
