my arm started itching last night, and 2 of my moles have changed shape. one is raised and very ragged looking, looks quite sore. i have a gp appointment at 11.30, and i am so scared.

East to say but try not to be too worried. You're doing the right thing by getting them checked out as soon as you can - if there's anything nasty about them the sooner they are treated the better.

Hope you get on OK, will be thinking about you.

Misdee, I had something very like this, it turned out that it was in fact a wart - believe me, I'd had it ever since I could remember and looked exactly like a mole (I have loads, so I know my moles).

Hope it's the same for you.

they are moles. have always had them. i got badly burnt when i was in my early teens, so badly i blistered (i spent the whole day in the pool, and refused to put my cream on, silly cow).

good girl misdee (i told her to get the moles checked yesterday)

Misdee I had a similar thing my mole was behind my ear and was very itchy and red. Saw the GP who monitored it for a time then told me it was fine. I had the mole removed anyway (relatively easy in my GPs surgery) as I worried about it and couldn't see it very well. Your doing the right thing getting it checked out, don't worry to much as you have noticed the change quickly and acted on it.

tamum · 15/02/2006 11:17

misdee, I'm glad you're getting them seen, but it sounds like too quick a change for it to be anything awful, from the way you've described it.

misdee - I had a dodgy one on my back a couple of years ago. It ticked all the boxes; uneven colour, ragged edges, grown bigger and more raised. Looked for all the world like it was going to be bad news. I had it removed and tested and it was ok.

Get it checked out but don't be overly worried.

Potty1 · 15/02/2006 16:35

How did you get on misdee?

misdee · 15/02/2006 17:38

doc thinks it s skin infection which has caused the odd appearance. i have some cream to apply and have to go back if it doesnt clear up.

My dd has exectly the same thing going on.
She has a big lumpy mole on her back which I don't really like anyway, she kept complaining that her back was itchy and the area round the mole has flared up quite red.
Docs have given us cream for fungal infection and have to try this for a couple of weeks.
I'll let you know how we get on.
