2 periods in a month and other stuff

Hi,

I always have short menstrual cycles (around 23-24 days) which is fairly rubbish as they are also quite heavy, but they are at least very regular. Recently, I had a period which started Fri 20 April and finished Mon 23 April (normalish for me, bit on short side. Yesterday - so 13 days after last period- I started bleeding again and it appears to be a normal, really heavy period again. What's going on??!

Periods have been very heavy since having my second child 18 months ago, and I have some other niggling things which in themselves don't seem to me to be worth going to the docs about but I will mention in case they are significant - I have a sore tongue with odd 'bald' bits around the edges, itchy, dry skin on my legs, and a sort of stabbing pain in left ovary area during what I presume is ovulation time (this is new to me). I was wondering about something hormonal going on...

Just wondering whether to go to docs or take a wait and see approach and see what happens next month. I don't particularly like going if I don't have to.

What's the concensus?!

Oh god please tell me this is not a sign of impending menopause. I am only 36!

Would report any such changes to your GP. GP should refer you to a gynae if this person is not sure what is happening here.

Anyone else had this. I had a normal period, then after finishing i had another period exactly one week after. So basically a 15 day cycle. I am 42 years old

At 42 I would be considering the start of early menopause. Might be worth a trip to your GP if your next one is also so early. For a one-off I wouldn’t go though. I would want two or more to be irregular first.

I had this - I am perimenopausal! I’m only 34, and was 32 when this began happening.
