DD complaining that her legs hurt....?

DD (4) is complaining that her legs hurt, when I ask where?, she shows me the back of her knees.

She is definitely under the weather, has a minor temp (101) and is off her food.

Anyone had experiences of legs hurting? What did it turn out to be?

I would have thought it was temperature related. I can't think of any other reason why her legs would hurt as she is too young for growing pains surely?

I think this may be some sort of bug that's going round at the moment. Friend's ds has something v similar - off his food all weekend, temperature, pain in legs and cold hands.
I panicked a bit when she told me about the cold hands and pains in legs because there was something in the news recently about these being early signs of meningitis .
Anyway my friend rang the doctor's surgery and when she described the symptoms was told that this was a bug doing the rounds. Phew!

If you are dehydrated sometimes your sodium levels can drop making you more prone to cramp. Dioralyte would fix it or a bannana and a glass of watered down fresh orange if shes eating. failing this calpol. If she contuinues to complain would see your gp

Growing pains. DS1 gets them. Has done since he was wee. Calpol and bed I think.

it could be flu symptoms, i sometimes get awful aches and pains with flu.

strange my ds 3 said exactly the same and because of it i took him to docs who said fever and viral infection-sit it out!\good luck

Thanks! I have put her to bed dosed up with ibuprofen and medised.
She says her ankles hurt, so I told her that maybe she will be taller in the morning. That seemed to make her happier!

awww bless.... Hope she's over it soon be it growing pains or virus.

Aw, poor bundle is so poorly today. Temp hit 105 and is currently down to 102. She is very unhappy and has a nasty thick sounding cough.
Virus methinks.
Not mentioned anything aching today which is good.

sounds very much like a virus.

Industrial sized calpol and nurofen then, poor babe.

WigWamBam · 14/02/2006 19:48

My dd has recently had the fluey virus that's been going around, and she had awful leg pains with it - at one point she could only walk on tiptoe because of the pain she was in. It was the backs of her knees and her calves. Lasted a couple of days partway through the illness.

Thanks, that sounds horrible WWB, poor thing.
She has a bumpy rash on her cheeks (viral rash?) and is still below par, but happily sploshing in the bath right now.
Thank goodness it's half term!
