I have just been diagnosed with an overactive thyroid. The consultant said that as I gave birth to dd2 6.5 months ago it's likely to be post partum thyroiditis. Annoyingly when I saw him, I was in a 9 day long break from all the symptoms so he presumed my thyroid was either regulating or entering the hypo stage. A few days ago though I started getting my symptoms back again- anxiety, tremor, diarrhoea, feeling hot and sweaty:(. It looks like I'm going to need medication!! I can't believe how normal I felt in those 9 days, I was so grateful and am now so gutted! What I'm concerned about though is the side effects of any medication. I am sick to death of loose poo and anxiety- my worst 2 symptoms. Is every drug likely to exacerbate these symptoms?

I was told i was hyperthryoid 10 yrs ago when my son was a year old. I had it so bad as it was undetcted for 6 months that it went on into Graves Disease. My results was in the 100's. It was put on Carbimazole and then after a while it would go into remission. Over the years its kept comming back, stress brings it on with me. Last August they said enough was enough, i had beta blockers as my heart rate was through the roof, i had EVERY symptom, high temp, loose frequent pooh, very moody, lost loads of weight, very very active, etc. I had to have Radio Active Treatment in the end last August. I sat and waited for the calm...which ended being the calm before the storm. I went from Aug till March suffering ...freezing cold, (so cold i wore two coats at work and with heating on), falling asleep during the day, every day was a struggle. I went back to my GP and TOLD him i was Hypothyroid as i then had EVERY symptom of that one now. They did bloods and i was dangerously low, i was told if i had problems over the weekend to go to A&E. I had severe headaches for two wks they thought that cause i now showed a Pituatary problem i had a Brain TUmour..yes thats right doc said i may have a pituarty tumore. (works out now i dont). My Thyroid is almost settled i am on 150mg Thryoxine but they are still unsure that i am settled yet. I have been up and down so badly that i just dont know what its like to feel normal....so good lucj
