GIg - big hugs - what a shock - but hope RWU's story shows there still can be a good outcome.

Snoopy- welcome but sorry you find yourself here. I was diagnosed in October last year and like you they virtually told me at first appointment which was massive shock. Once a treatment plan is in place you will begin to calm down - well I certainly did. The scans are not very accurate at determining tumor size - they thought mine was in the 40mm to 60mm range but turned out to be a lot smaller on surgery. Just remember bc is very treatable these days.

RWU - thankyou for telling us your story. It is so good to know there is life after cancer diagnosis.

Sometimesiwonder · 02/05/2012 13:54

cross post. Don't suppose you meant my sort of cakes. But the edible kind is still here, we now have a full blown trolley

smee · 02/05/2012 13:54

Of course there's cake. Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 02/05/2012 13:57

Oh, and my situation - had lumpectomy and ANC three years ago (all turned out to be clear - hooray!), chemo (6 x FEC) and 15 x rads. Now on tamoxifen. About to have spinal fusion but that's a whole different story, not related at all. All in all, feeling pretty chipper, have just been swimming and went like a train, if i do say so myself

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/05/2012 13:57

the trolley is always heaving with goodies. RWU I'm three years post dx now and all is fine and dandy Grin
Happy Bday to your two and how is dd ?

Happy birthday to your DT's RWU, good luck with the world domination - you know you can do itGrin

quick update for me - coming up to four years past DX, am waiting for a reconstruction, but have to lose weight first. My Dad died in November, so still fairly raw, but I'm getting there. Otherwise all good. Smile

jane - very sorry to hear your news Sad - what a shock for you all.

Snoopygirl - welcome to the thread, it sounds as if you been through a hell of a lot Sad - first few days after DX, you will feel pretty stunned, - so give yourself time, be kind to yourself. Once you get started on your treatment, it gets a bit easier, - but we're always here for support and chats about anything at all, and there's always Brew and cake on the trolley Smile xx

graciesmall09 · 02/05/2012 14:03

Oh gigs only catching up now. Sad so sorry about your results but your onc sounds caring and you can be guaranteed they will be sorting out the very best treatment plan for you and there are new treatments all the time. Huge hugs to you.

14k hope your appointment goes ok.

KurriKurri · 02/05/2012 14:03

Ooh little RWU is at school, bless her - she's a proper grown up girl Smile

snoopygirl · 02/05/2012 14:09

Jesus is there any wine on the trolley Smile....don't tell me I have to cut that out it's my only vice!

gig I don't know what to say but glad you are finding comfort here.
one I think that's why it's a massive shock. I didn't expect to get results yesterday. Not that i wanted to wait either.

RWU you sound like an amazing woman!

BTW what's with the blueberries and what other supplements do you all take? Or is that like peeing in the wind with what's going on inside?

amberlight · 02/05/2012 14:10

RWU, hello!!! And thank you for sharing what you have told us.
Me, I was DX Jan last year with HER2+ bc, grade 3, no nodes but a reasonable size lump. Walloped with everything they had in the chemo cupboard etc.
Herceptin hated me so I'm coping without it and hoping for the best, with the approval of my Onc. Mostly I hang around here for the cake Grin excellent company and a chance to race off and find out latest research for people feeling wobbly.

Sometimesiwonder · 02/05/2012 14:14

No snoopy it's not like peeing in the wind. But there is a lot of difference of opinion on what supplements you can take, I have lost track and don't take any because i don't want to take the wrong ones. Food wise I hear blueberries, watercress, carrots, brocolli and apples, plus green tea are all good and i try to make sure I get lots of these. Plus exercise

Wine OK in moderation, I fervently hope Grin. I know the red variety got me through chemo Hmm

I can't believe the RWU clan are so grown up. Where does the time go?

graciesmall09 · 02/05/2012 14:15

I'm too slow, cross posted with absolutely everyone by the looks of it.

lime sorry to hear your mum in hospital hope she is ok.

RWU thank you for sharing your story definitely gives hope.

My story (whether you want it or not) is dx March this year (5 weeks after my dad died of cancer) with grade 3 bc, no nodes, ER+, HER2+ (I always was a greedy guts) so lumpectomy, snb, chemo, rads and Herceptin and Tamoxifen for me. Only had one chemo so far so loooooong road still to go.

I'll put some Wine on trolley for you snoopy as I've gone off it after chemo.

reallywoundup · 02/05/2012 14:17

Sometimesiwonder · 02/05/2012 14:33
