Oh god just looked the Docetaxol side effects up. think I'll stop reading for tonight..
nite all x

smee · 17/05/2012 23:50

Aw Snoopy, that's v. sweet. Radioactive no cuddles is just them being ultra cautious. Maybe go get nice coffee and cake after injection while you wait for your scan. Cake always helps I find..! Smile

jchocchip · 18/05/2012 07:08

Morning all - off to work then travel to see mum for the weekend. will check in later. Brew on the go.

amberlight · 18/05/2012 07:15

Snoopy, if it's what they call 'triple negative', it can now be as good as any other sort. Don't google as none of the articles have the new therapy results. It's also a sort that has better long term odds of not coming back. So fret not about it being worse. But do point your inc at the new research out this week. Will link when home.

topsyturner · 18/05/2012 07:43

Now I've apparently got a chest infection too ...
I have had enough now !

Gigondas · 18/05/2012 07:50

Oh topsy I am not surprised. Sending you tons of love

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/05/2012 07:59

topsy - oh no,that's rotten Sad
snoopy if you are triple neg. then am sure greylady will advise as she was/is. Lots of luck with scan today x

No no no,topsy!! no more infection!!
It's the withdrawal from the orange men, quick gig,she needs orange and plenty of it!Grin
on a serious note, are you still in the private hospital or back to nhs? I hope they get you better asap,Topsy. It's no fun being in hospital with a post op infection.I know because I was last nov/dec and I felt worse than the first day post op,it's no fun.
waves to all.

l4k · 18/05/2012 08:33

tom's the one! I don't know if that one is really really good and just what is required or totally obscene.Confused
will let topsy decide.

AutumnSummers · 18/05/2012 08:55

Hellooo ladies. I've been in the Hospital with my dad for the last few days. Silly man is drinking himself to death. I'm ashamed to say that I've welcomed the distraction. It's a shame. He has ruined his brain and he was once the smartest man in all the world to me.

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/05/2012 09:01

autumn that's so sad - poor man and it must be awful for you
gig - topsy might overdose with orangeness !

AutumnSummers · 18/05/2012 09:01

snoopy* good luck today in Oxford.

gig I hope that you are feeling better today and same to Topsy

I admire the shit out of all of you ladies.

smee I've seen those nipple tats. As with all tats, choose your artist wisely! I've seen a few really, really good ones.

AutumnSummers · 18/05/2012 09:10

MAS it is. He''s got burst blood vessels in his brain and has a crap short term memory. He'll make a cup of tea 3 times in a row and now he has facial odema and same in his hands with no explanation. Obviously it's the drink.

The saddest thing is that all I see in his eyes when i try to talk to him about is fear and panic. He knows I'm rather sore about how has always been with me as a drunk and I think he doesn't really want me to honestly speak to him because then he'll have to say sorry. He's just going to do his best to avoid it until he dies. Which he shortly will.

The hospital were shit. They told him to go back to his doctor to be referred back to hospital. WTAF? This hospital does not impress. My Gran, killing herself with the fags, was told to stay in througha chest infection but they cleared a big cupboard out for her and shoved a bed in it so she goes signed out.

This si the same hospital I have to deal with for all of my. I've had personal dealings with them before and they're the type of hospital that likes to make it so that you are not immediately dying before sending you back to your GP.

AutumnSummers · 18/05/2012 09:12

Where did your reply go MAs? Did I dream it?!

Gigondas · 18/05/2012 09:38

Hugs for you autumn. My dad is a recovering alcoholic and my aunt died of drink related disease so I know something of how distressing it is.

I think you do so well with this, your throat problem and small children.

Any nice weekend plans anyone? Is it eurovision this weekend ? If so that could provide some nice distraction.

smee · 18/05/2012 09:52

That's a bit of a big deal Autumn Do you have other siblings who can help, or is it just you. Drink's a sod. I spent a lot of time with my friend and her father when his body finally gave up. Hard to watch and be part of and he wasn't even my dad.

Topsy, I'm not surprised either, but bloody hell, that's the last thing you need. horse pills antibiotics will zap it soon am sure.

Gig, excellent links. Grin how do you get them to do that??

Snoopy, hope scan goes okay, am thinking of you. Listen to Amber on Stats, for she is totally on top of it all. Smile

Gracie, how are you today?? Feeling okay I hope and side effects abating?

Grey Lady, are you out of bed yet? Hope so..Smile

Ned, I'm sure they'll sort you for next round. Hasn't half come round quickly, and just two more to go. Smile Smile

Eight, I think you're a bit ahead of Ned, so does that mean you've just had another?? Is that your last?

No news from Sometimes. Hope she's okay and will be home for the weekend to be spoilt.

Lots of work to do here. Brew for those who would like one.

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/05/2012 10:36

autumn that is a hell of a thing, and the hospital being so crap is downright depressing.
Waves to gig and smee and hopes that topsy is doing well and sometimes of course.
Is it Eurovision ? or is that next week...

Sorry if this is boring and I realise having read the other posts that what my mum has is minor in comparison but I still can't help worrying. She had DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ) two years ago. She had surgery and 3 weeks of radiotherapy. Since then she has been monitored by the hospital with annual mammograms. I took her for a mammogram 2 weeks ago and she received a letter asking her to go back for further tests and a biopsy as they have found breast tissue they want to investigate further. The letter says not to worry but I can't help myself.

KurriKurri · 18/05/2012 11:01

hello all, - sorry if I don't mention everyone - but I've got behind as usual (have read all posts though)

Autumn - so sorry about your Dad, - it must be very very hard for you, and you must be going through all sorts of emotions, take care of yourself. The hospital sounds absolute shit by the way Angry for you.

Gig - hope you have a better day today, loving the orange pictures, - although the one of Tom might be a step to far! (burnt sienna rather than orange Grin)

topsy - Sad what a pain for you darling, - you must be very fed up and desperate to get home. Hope they get these buggery infections sorted asap. But let them spoil you while you're in and get lots of rest. xx

Sometimes if you can read this - hope everything is well and you are not too sore, and will be home soon (tell DH ans DD to stock up on FBS for your return Smile)

Smee - how's the wound now? - healing up I hope. When will you get your nipple tats? - I've seen some in action as it were and they are brilliant (in case you think I'm a total weirdo, I go to a reconstruction support group and people who've had it done will happily flash for those of us still waiting Grin)

Greylady - hope you're a bit better today, and those AB's are working.

Snoopy good luck with the scans today, will be thinking of you (sorry can't help on the docetaxol, I had FEC and CMF chemo.) Stay well away from google - anyone can post anything on it, it doesn't have to be sensible or accurate!

Ned good luck for Monday - how many left now?

Waving madly and blowing xx to everyone.

No keep fit for me today - my neck is still to sore (actually it is a little bit better but I don't want to risk making it worse again)

My friend who is teaching me to drive, has had her second all clear in six months after rads for throat cancer - which is great (she's had it for six years and never managed one all clear before - always had to have more surgery, but she had heavy duty rads last years and they seem to be doing the trick Smile)

smee · 18/05/2012 11:11

crazy8, no point in saying don't worry, as it's clear they've found something which needs a closer look. Still a very good chance it's nothing though - lots of people are recalled and it turns out to be nothing to worry about. tbh even if it is something, well they'll have caught it early, so it will be treatable and sortable. Maybe that's the way to look at it. Stick with us and ask any questions you want to. Really hope she gets the all clear though.

Kurri, that's brilliant for your friend. Smile Smile sorry your neck's still a bit ouch, but sounds like it's going in the right direction, so that's good.

Waving to MAS. Hope you're not working too hard. When's the new tap coming?

My scars are healing well, so all's good here. Nipples will be a later date. I haven't decided whether I want them or not tbh. Am amused at the thought, but need to look into it further. Also have had enough of hospitals for now. Am sure you all know the feeling...

Crumpets are calling me from the bread bin. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/05/2012 11:12

oh brilliant news about your friend kk -yay !

crazy8 hello ! Try not to worry- it might just be that they have to check that it's not just dense tissue (this happened to me last year after mammo and was asked to go back -a close up mammogram showed dense breast tissue, nothing sinister) Even if it is DCIS or an invasive cancer then it will have been caught very early and can be treated effectively. If it's the same breast then it can't have any further radiotherapy so that would mean as mastectomy (am assuming she had a lumpectomy ) BUT it's very likely to be harmless tissue -they will just be very thorough in checking.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 18/05/2012 11:15

ah,cross posted with smee !

Am working on nice things and ploughing through them so not too arduous - hope you aren't overdoing it. Tap on order,so I guess next week...
I remember the lady in the lavs at hospital proudly showing off our surgeon's handiwork with her recon. - no nipple though- think she was having that later.

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 18/05/2012 11:25

crazy8 - apologies, I x-posted with you. It's very natural to worry, but as Smee and MAS have said, - it can be all sorts of things, not cancer related, and it's good they are being thorough. Waiting for tests is horrible and stressful for everyone though, - how is your mum coping?
