Good luck for driving test theory, kk. And thinking of all those with treatments, more tests, results appointments and so on this week, and hope post-op Topsy is 'getting there'. Hope everyone gets good sleeps tonight.

I was thinking about this today, I found my priorities changed so that i wanted to spend more time with the children, and I think i appreciate the small things more - little things like sitting out in the (occasionally- it was today for a brief while!!) warm, sunny garden with a cuppa. Doing fun things with the family. Stuff I might have taken for granted otherwise. I think it goes back to the terror of first diagnosis when the boys were so little and I feared the youngest epsecailly wouldn't get to know me 'properly'. But my problem is chronic and not bc or any cancer, so maybe different. I had to stop career as a result of illness too, and haven't really found a substitute. I have a lot of emotional stuff to sort still, I think. But in spite of all this I feel very lucky, when i'm not angry and bitter. Ha, ha!!

Gd night, all xxx

Baskets45 · 14/05/2012 22:55

Please note. i do know how to spell 'especially'!!

amberlight · 14/05/2012 23:24

Hugs and Wine for all from us in sunny North

topsyturner · 15/05/2012 05:04

Just a quickie to risk kk best of luck in her exam today .
I'm not doing to well . I have ended up with a pretty impressive infection and have spent the night in 2 different hospitals being prodded and poked .
Looks like I will be back in theatre this morning to get it all cleaned out again .

Will be back later when I feel a bit more with it .

l4k · 15/05/2012 08:47

I am so sorry I haven't been here to wish all appointments/tests the best but I have been thinking of you. Hope snoopy your appointment goes ok.

Sending get well vibes to Topsy hope you get this horrid infection sorted.

gigs hope you are ok after your mammoth mri. I hated my mri as I'm claustrophobic. Think they would need to sedate me if I need another.

Well, I'm just about ok. My onc phoned last night and spoke to DH. I have been in no fit state to speak to anyone to be honest. He said he was furious that 'someone who didn't know what they were talking about' had told me the result. He said he trusted 100% his radiologist who had kept him right over the years. He is going to send the chest CT to his radiologist today to re-read and relook at the CT/MRI but he said it would be the first time he has ever known bc to spread so quickly and according to him sclerosis (which is what showed up) is not something which appears suddenly. Anyway he is going to phone me later so candles/prayers/positive thoughts would be much appreciated.

One positive is my nurse would out redressing picc and she is suggesting a syringe driver for next time. I am still very nauseous 6 days after chemo although retching, not vomiting.

Sorry HUGE WAVES to everyone else and sorry if I have missed anyone, oh good luck kurri at your test.

Sometimesiwonder · 15/05/2012 10:50

Checking in for news from KK.

Huge hugs to everyone especially Topsy, Gracie, Snoopy, Grey lady - everyone, really who is dealing with horrible things and may need it.

Really must fly but thought I'd share this gem from dd with you. At the weekend DH's great aunt had a routine op which went well, but then she had an arterial bleed so it was a bit hairy for a while, though she is doing well now.

DD to me: Mum are you worried about your back op yet?

Me: No, it'll be fine

DD: Do you think you'll have an arterial bleed?

Me: OK you aren't helping.......

Grin

I am thinking of you all and rooting for you. Speak soon Flowers Wine

Sometimesiwonder · 15/05/2012 10:51

Oh and Smee - to answer your question - I'll probably be in for three days. Hopefully less, I always end up institutionalised and enjoying getting my meals made for me if I'm there too long Wink

graciesmall09 · 15/05/2012 10:56

Grin sometimes kids can just lighten the mood can't they?

Sometimesiwonder · 15/05/2012 11:06
Grin

Excuse me if I just lurk for the rest of the day, I need to know abut KK, and people's treatment plans and worries, and happy outcomes - well, all of it, really. So I'll be about.....

smee · 15/05/2012 11:22

Grin at your DD, Sometimes. Does she get stressed when you're in hospital?

Bit of good news here today. My friend's sis was having a horrendous time with a tumour on her leg and had her op yesterday. There was a distinct possibility she'd lose her leg, but apparently she's fine, leg v.much still there and tumour out with clear margins. Smile

Gracie, that driver sounds like a good idea. I never had one - don't think they did them at my hospital, though it was two years ago now. I used to have to go and get dripped up as was so sick too. Grim.. Sad So glad your Onc's called and is on the case. Will have a candle lit for you until that call arrives. Does sound more positive though, so here's hoping. xx

Sometimesiwonder · 15/05/2012 11:27

Oh, yay for friend's sister, Smee. Good news indeed!

I don't think dd does get too stressed out: she enjoys the change of routine and the extra attention from well wishers, I think Grin

graciesmall09 · 15/05/2012 11:28

Great news about your friend's sis smee, such a good outcome.

Just had salt & vinegar crisps as anything salty seems to settle the sickness for a very short time.

NedSchneebly · 15/05/2012 11:38

Arf Grin at sometimes dd!

Having a peaceful one here today - DH away in Edinburgh doing some team building thing on a nature reserve with his colleagues. He was by grumpy at the prospect as he left this morning!

gracie sounds like might not be such bad news then? Got everything crossed for you.

kurri? You done and dusted?

topsy that's proper rotten. Poor you. Hope they can get you all cleaned and and more comfy soon.

smee and MAS have put a picture of my new beautiful Converses on FB, just to tempt you!

Does anyone's DCs have any DaGeDar stuff? DS chose a racetrack for his latest star chart toy, and it's quite fun! Can see how it could get a very expensive habit though, collecting more and more balls. . .

NedSchneebly · 15/05/2012 11:39

X post smee great news about your friends sis! Smile

Gigondas · 15/05/2012 11:41

Did mammoth post and lost it (Mn playing up). Am lot better today after eating and (drug free) sleep .

topsy hugs- if it's any comfort, my clean up op worked a treat.

gracie glad onc is on case to get this resolved but I am sorry you are feeling so shitty.

kurri I sent you good thought and brain waves earlier.

Grin at sometimes dd. I can see a great future for her as a dr .

smee thats great news- some of the surgeons are amazing.

baskets your post really struck me. There is so much you take for granted if you aren't sick or touched by it. There are a lot of conditions (not just cancer) which can taint lives . I know someone with a persistent heart problem (it's an infection of lining I think- got some long name). They can treat it as it comes but it weakens her and there are Long term se. This person cannot do much without needing to spend days in bed. I don't think that this bastard disease is the only one that can spoil lives.

Late treatment today so nice to be at home even if there is no sun

Gigondas · 15/05/2012 11:41

for topsy

Gigondas · 15/05/2012 11:43

a classic

Gigondas · 15/05/2012 11:44

don't look if you are eating

Gigondas · 15/05/2012 11:44

shall I send him to look after you topsy

smee · 15/05/2012 11:45

Ned, have never heard of that DaGeDar.. What is it?! Am lusting after new converse. Yours look fab. Both DS and DH came back from NYC with new ones and I got too stressed by the choice, so failed to buy any. Am useless at shopping..

Gracie, crisps are strangely good - I used to like jacobs crackers for some reason.

Sometimes, I'd bet she gets spoilt rotten when you're away. Quite nice in a way for your DH to have some time with her solo. How long is recuperation then? Have you told all your clients you won't be working. Hope you aren't going to to try and keep going

Gigondas · 15/05/2012 11:48

Team building + nature reserve + rain= and I think I am badly off Grin ned

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/05/2012 11:58
