sandripples · 13/05/2012 21:45

Thanks MAS - he's very keen but is in a good position as insurance choice is Manchester which would be very good too, and muuuuuch cheaper!
How are you?

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/05/2012 21:53

am pretty good thanks - it's my 6 monthly check on Wednesday, and mammogram on Friday. Work is going well and ds is doing various exams (yr 10 GCSE type things) and is off on a choir tour to New York in June - v exciting

OP posts:
sandripples · 13/05/2012 21:57

Yes I remember your DS getting that NY place - that's very exciting! I hope he has a brilliant time.

Have to go to bed now, but glad you know you're well.
x

Figgyroll · 14/05/2012 07:14

Morning all, plenty of toast and Brew to go round.

Waves to Sandripples. Good luck to your DS.

MAS, lunch sounded lovely yesterday. Glad you had a nice time.

Sending love and positive thoughts to Gracie and Autumn.

Topsy, hope you had a comfortable night and don't need as many drugs today. .

The sun is shining here and I hope it is where you are too. xxxx

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/05/2012 07:30

Waves to all..
Well done rwu. I will have some of that cake.

Lots of luck to sr ds- sending him lots of stay calm and you can do it vibes (remember having a high offer like that when I did exams).

Rads and MRI scan for me so am taking my happy pills as will be a long scan.

Gigondas · 14/05/2012 08:03

ffiggy did your wound settle?

snoopygirl · 14/05/2012 08:10

Just wanted to say thinking of Gig today.
I have been fine for few days now feel sick with nerves about the sot on pelvic bone. Off on coach trip this morning with coach load of yr 1's. It will either take my mind off of send me over the edge!!
Do they do Wine on trolley at this time in morning. think I'm going to end up alcoholic before this lot is over, so hopeing chemo will put me off it!

Gigondas · 14/05/2012 08:52

snoopy hard not to worry but as others said it can be lots. A friend had shadows on his ribs- turned out to be where he had broken them. Pelvis could well be pregnancy/child birth linked.

AutumnSummers · 14/05/2012 08:57

All the best to the examming youngsters (I used exam as a verb, the pedants' corner would hate me!)

MAS A champagne lunch sounds ideal!

Figgy How did the gardening go?

smee Every chance it's benign. I just won't find out for far too long. I am sure that there is a good reason they haven't biopsied it, but the team that's dealing with me aren't very forthcoming. The appointment I have on the 25th won't even yeild any answers to that. I'm going to tell them that I've had quite enough of the pissing about and that if they can't take it out and biopsy it at the same time then they must tell me why.

Garcie I'm still reeling from you being planked in with a bunch of old fellas and being left weeping behind a curtain like that. Christ, you'd think that they'd be able to spare a Phsychologist or counsellor to patients in times like this. ((hugs))

gig All the best today.

topsy How are you today?

I'm in War mode. My arch nemesees wasps are well and truly awake from thier winter slumber. I bought those Waspinator things and have hung them in the garden. Today is a nice enough day to see if the bastarding things work. I do hope so. Wasps keep me from having summer funs!

l4k · 14/05/2012 09:08

Morning!
Mil has been reading info pack from breast clinic and is concerned that it seems normal practice to treat tumours over 2 cm with more than surgery(hers is 4-5cm) can we ask a question?
Did anyone have a mastectomy then no chemo or radio?

Still hoping to get an appointment for her for this week but her mind is racing now and she's slept badly.

snoopy-I've been on a few of those trips and I usually ended up feeling sick with a headache! good luck.

AutumnSummers · 14/05/2012 09:11

14 My Mum had a cancerous tumour in her left breast at 3m in length and it was removed without chemo etc. I suppose it depends on individual health boards but can you get a second opinion on this?

Gigondas · 14/05/2012 09:29

I also have a friend who had it removed without other treatment. Think it depends on grade etc.

No harm in asking for second opinion (dh is) - not cos I think won't have different answer but to make sure all angles covered on treatment. Tbh with mdt you sort of get that. Bil is consultant and says no good dr would be worried about asking for second opinion .

AutumnSummers · 14/05/2012 09:33

*3cm. Not 3m

1stepatatime · 14/05/2012 09:34

14k - I had a mx just over 2 weeks ago. Got my results last week (lump was 6.7 cm and 11 nodes affected) so got to have chemo, rads and hormone therapy. Prior to op I'd been told chance of needing rads following a mx was 25% and chemo 50% but at that point they thought lump was 2.5 cm and didn't think nodes were affected.

smee · 14/05/2012 09:45

Morning all - wiped out, as have been up all night working to meet deadline. Got the boy off to school now, so am going to sink back to bed for an hour or so for much needed sleep.

l4k, I know someone who had mastectomy and chemo, but no rads. I have no idea why. Her tumour was large (6cm). She's triple negative. Does MiL know her hormone status yet.

Snoopy, I wish you no rain. Yr 1 trip sounds like a very good distraction. Hope it's fun. Smile

Waving to Figgy. Glad you had a better weekend Smile

V.nice to see SR back. Imperial offers sounds daunting. Hope he gets it, though Manchester's a good place for Uni too.

MAS, good to hear lunch was fun. Smile

1step, when's your next appointment? Am imagining soon.

Autumn, benign's the best kind of work. Hope that's what you hear. Go kill those pesky wasps. Sounds therapeutic. Grin

Hope Topsy and Gracie are okay today. Ned and One in Eight too. Sorry if I've missed anyone. Off to zzzz

l4k · 14/05/2012 10:33

Thanks to all,that's helpful.
She will be getting a second opinion because she is moving hospitals/consultant so that is going to happen anyway, which is good.
1step-that must have been a nasty shock, hope your recovery is going well.

The bc nurse said she assumed by the way cons was talking it is hormone positive but he didn't actually tell us that.Hope to find out more when see new cons.
thanks again,from me and mil.Smile

1stepatatime · 14/05/2012 10:40

Gig - Will be thinking of you today.

Smee - because I've had to have op at a different hospital, I'm now waiting for an appt at my local hospital to go through results again, should be this Thursday. Also waiting on appts for scans. Hope you manage to catch up on some sleep.

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/05/2012 10:48

love to gig -hope the happy pills kick in x

OP posts:
Gigondas · 14/05/2012 10:49

Thanks me too- scans with no food for nearly 7 hours (and radio in between) arent going to make for a good day.

Off to buy dh anniversary present first

AutumnSummers · 14/05/2012 11:13

smee They don't actually kill them unfortunately they mimic an enemy hive and give you a supposed 6 meter radius clear of wasps. I've hung them but, sadly, clear skies have been replaced with black clouds (My fault. I'm Scottish and still haven't learned yet to notice the good weather but not mention it incase you jinx it!) so I can't do my test to see if it works.

I was going to take Xander outside for a very nice picnic to see if the waspinators frightened the wasps from coming into the garden. Now, as I type, a ray of sunshine pierces the clouds. Will you make up your mind weather?!

AutumnSummers · 14/05/2012 11:14

gig what are you getting him? :)

AutumnSummers · 14/05/2012 11:14

I feel your pain re: Fasting. It's not nice :(
